I find that laughable. We do not want a 2 party system. They don't work well. It isn't vote splitting, it's called a plurality. After a few years they reported back to me how politics worked on the west coast. They told me that people there would alternate between the NDP and the Liberals. They explained this as "One spends on a party for us and the other pays for it!" madmax Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 (edited) I have a feeling that next year it will become the start of another party…….. Whenever Conservatives mess their Brand ... they Rebrand under a new name to continue with the same agenda. Its what occured in Sask after Grant Devine destroyed the PCs... Its what is going to happen in BC since Campbell/Christie has destroyed the Liberal Brand they adopted after the Social Credit disaster and yes they are Conservatives..they will merge and become one again with those in the Provincial Conservative Party. Chuck Strahl campaigned hard for the Liberal Candidate and says that the Cons Finishing 3rd is reason to look at a remerger of the Right Free Enterprise.. and call it a new name. DRC sound good And I believe the same will happen in Alberta. While the PCs in Alberta haven't been as incompetent and corrupt as the BC Liberals or the DevineConservatives.. they are very much lost in the trappings of power. I see a clean sweep coming in Alberta...and BC. Ironically Provinces are sweeping out the right.. with one going left and the other going erm.. right Edited April 21, 2012 by madmax Quote
Newfoundlander Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 BC needs a "Saskatchewan Party" that can merge the Liberals and Conservatives soon. Quote
punked Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 BC needs a "Saskatchewan Party" that can merge the Liberals and Conservatives soon. The Liberals need to crash and that party needs to rebuild. This usually takes 6 years. Quote
Newfoundlander Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Maybe Christy Clark will legislate in electoral reform, it would be her only way of not destroying the Liberals and keeping the NDP from power. Quote

And to make sure no one ever has a majority again. She has no political capital to spend on something like that. Quote
Newfoundlander Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 An interesting read, and there are other similar articles. http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/british-columbia/bc-politics/shakeup-urged-for-lost-cause-bc-liberals/article2409937/?service=mobile Quote

madmax Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Maybe Christy Clark will legislate in electoral reform, it would be her only way of not destroying the Liberals and keeping the NDP from power. BC has Rejected Electoral Reform in Referendums TWICE in the past 8 years! The Last time the Conservatives and Liberals Jerryrigged the Electoral Process to defeat the CCF , the inadvertantly lost to a new party called the Social Credit. Quote
Newfoundlander Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Erm.. BC just went through that... How exactly? Quote
punked Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 How exactly? Social credit and ummmmmm.....the Liberals. Quote
TheNewTeddy Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 The Saskatchewan Party of BC? Newfoundlander Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Social credit and ummmmmm.....the Liberals. And what has happened to both of them? Unless something is done between the BC Consevatives and BC Liberals over the next year neither will likely have enough support to win an election. Quote

Unless something is done between the BC Consevatives and BC Liberals over the next year neither will likely have enough support to win an election. I think the people of BC are so sick and tired of their RightWing government that they SHOULD merge together again.. the split is only a couple years old... and then the public can toss them out wholesale. From what I am reading the politics of corporations and corruptions is over in BC... no matter if its the Cons/Libs or LibraCons. Quote

A 2-party system is not a boon to democracy. Much better to have multiple parties and many ideas. Quote
