punked Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 It's really unfortunate that you're probably right. It is just a sad truth that a great candidate like Singh just can't play where he lives but if he was in Ontario or BC could get a seat and take his fight to Ottawa. Quote
WWWTT Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 Yah but we don't expect Singh a small business owner in NS to pick up his family and become a carpet bagger in BC do we? I mean I like Singh but he is no Elizabeth May she was able to spend like 200,000 over the course of a year to pick a very friendly seat after no stop national campaigning for like 4 years. Singh just doesn't have those resources and had really no place to run in his Home province of NS. I just don't see how he can do it. Regardless it does not matter because Singh gives some Indian minorities a strong role model firmly placed in the NDP! In Bramton west(high Indian population) I volunteerd for Jagtar Shergil, however he finished third. This is partially because of the lack of strong Indian role models in the NDP party.(at the time) I should also mention that I contributed finacially to Jagmeet Singh campaign(Bramalee-Goreway) aswell. He lost by only 1 000 votes but since switched over to the provincial NDP and won! WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! That reminds me, never ask Greg to be a business partner! NEVER!

lukin Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 The NDP is a sinking ship. They should enjoy their first and last term of prominence. People are growing tired of union thuggery. Quote

Yes I am fully aware of that! He is still a strong role model for Indians from within the NDP. I would even argue that someone whom has converted to Sikh religion is an even greater role model/influence as opposed to someone actually from Punjab! WWWTT Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Not all Indians are Sikhs. Yes perhaps I should say that Martin is a strong role model for Sikhs only. But many people identify the religion with India. I will ask several of my Indian friends how they feel when I have the chance WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! cybercoma Posted March 10, 2012 Author Report Posted March 10, 2012 many people identify the religion with IndiaYou should let those people know that less than 2% of Indians are Sikhs. As a point of comparison, it would be like identifying Islam with Canada. Quote
fellowtraveller Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Did they have the NDP leadership election yet? is it soon? Quote The government should do something.

j44 Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 I thought some people might find this interesting. http://thechronicleherald.ca/canada/72109-singh-doing-mulcair-s-dirty-work Even before reading this I would have thought Singh's views lined up with Mulcair's more than anyone else. Can't say I noticed this but I didnt watch the last two debates. Quote
punked Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 (edited) For a throw away candidate Singh is crazy to the right or center I guess. Edited March 10, 2012 by punked Quote

j44 Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Last leadership debate today. Expect another assault-by-committee on Mulcair. Thanks, I forgot all about it. 1. Ashton never says anything of value. It always seems so generic. I watched an interview with her last week and she was awful. I dont even think she had an idea what corporate taxes were. 2. I hate when they put people on stage behind the candidates. Quote
Jack Weber Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 If Mulcair can attack Harper like he attacks journalists and his co-deputy leader I'm sure he'll do great. Spectacular!! I watched that when it happened...Mulcair tearing a conservative muckraker, like Brian Lilley,a new one... Quote The beatings will continue until morale improves!!!

UofGPolitico Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Spectacular!! I watched that when it happened...Mulcair tearing a conservative muckraker, like Brian Lilley,a new one... And yet, he wanted a cabinet post in Harper's government. Forgive me if I doubt his sincerity in his attacks on the right. Quote

j44 Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Interesting that Mulcair used his first question on Ashton. Quote
Jack Weber Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Interesting that Mulcair used his first question on Ashton. It's amazing that Weezer has taken time out to have it's lead singer run for the NDP leadership race... Quote The beatings will continue until morale improves!!!
j44 Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 It's amazing that Weezer has taken time out to have it's lead singer run for the NDP leadership race... She gets odder looking every time I see her. Lol She's terrible at answering questions. I know everyone tip toes around the ones they can't or will not answer but she needs to be less obvious about it. Quote

And I agree that she's terrible at answering questions... I watched her on P&P last week and when Evan Solomon asked her about the seemingly untenable position of jobs in refining raw bitumen and not allowing refineries to be built in the oil sands, she did the tip toe tap dance...
