Guest Peeves Posted December 30, 2011 Report Posted December 30, 2011 The above statement contains a typo, right? Certainly you didn't intend to state that the ultra-orthodox of Israel are nearly as bad Islamic fundamentalists. The overwhelming majority of self-identifying ultra-orthodox will condemn the absurd fringe among them that harass women for being "immodestly" dressed. These types of stories are uncommon and by no mains mainstream. When I refer to fundamentalists I do not include fringe radicals of Islam nor of Judaism. I refer to the ultra orthodox of Israel as those that treat women as lesser just as do Muslims. Islamic fundamentalists differ in practice just as do fundamentalist Israelis. Leaving out the radicals like those rioting over cartoons or radicals like Meir Kahane, (Kach as "racist" and "undemocratic), nor Shariah where stoning might be acceptable. Once the extremist, radical fringes are excluded, were a person to see a traditional shlogn Kapores or a Muslim wearing a burka, the nutty aspects of either they certainly might think they might reasonably be compared for behavior Quote
