guyser Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 No. She made a Majors final and 3 majors semi and became the first Canadian Woman to rank in the Top 10 World Rankings.So...she didnt win any major. Probably why she didnt win. Probably why the voters firgure she'll be back in the running when she does. Dominating in Women's Bobsled is a lot less impressive than being a top 10 player in women's tennis. How many women even participate in Bobsled? To you in other words? Dont know, suspect a lot less than tennis......afterall, how many die in tennis? 16 have died in bobsleigh. Might keep the numbers down ya know? Christine Sinclair didn't win anything either.facepalm..... 11 time winner of player of the year. 6 time nominee for FIFA player of the year. Freshman of the year for US soccer Golden doal scorer giving college team National Championship. 3 different national Player of the year honours. All Time Div 1 goal scorer. ..theres more but I think thats enough justification. Quote
Boges Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 So...she didnt win any major. Probably why she didnt win. Probably why the voters firgure she'll be back in the running when she does. To you in other words? Probably. Mike Weir won it for winning the Masters. But I think the combination of her results in the first 3 majors were even more an accomplishment actually. She trailed off later in the year but let's be honest Humphries is really only being honoured for her results in the Olympics. Dont know, suspect a lot less than tennis......afterall, how many die in tennis? 16 have died in bobsleigh. Might keep the numbers down ya know? The difficulty of the sport shouldn't be a factor as much as the adoption of the sport in the world. Especially when it comes to Women's Tennis. It's one of the few sports in the world where the women's version is equally popular as the men's. f acepalm..... She did all that in 2012? Come on! She won because of that Hat Trick and that screw job against the USA. Canada won bronze in Woman's Soccer. Why didn't they give it to the girl that actually won Gold in the Olympics that year? Quote
Boges Posted December 14, 2016 Author Report Posted December 14, 2016 Lou Marsh goes to a Swimmer!?!?!? https://www.thestar.com/sports/2016/12/13/penny-oleksiak-wins-lou-marsh-trophy.html Hard to argue with the first Canadian to win 4 medals in a Summer games. She's only 16 years old and she won the first Gold Medal of the games. BUT!!!! Track Sprinter Andre de Graisse solidified his place as one of the top 2 or 3 sprinters in the entire world, only losing to History's greatest sprinter in the 200m. Even though Penny won several medals, it's hard to say she's in the top 3 of females swimmers globally. I guess this Swimming v Track debate rages on again as we debated who's a more successful Olympian, Usian Bolt or Michael Phelps. I also think Sidney Crosby and Milos Raonic put up sporting years that would be worth the Lou Marsh many other years. Embarrassment of Riches, I suppose. Quote
