jbg Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Good idea - congratulations! Concentrate on what made your nation great...and also concentrate on efforts that will sustain that greatness. If you have faults and defects - admit them - you can not be right till you admit your are wrong (sometimes) - America still has great potential but one must be honest with themseles and not cheer on a losing situation. Institutionalized attitudes regarding greatness can lead to a dellusion where one imagines himself as great while his foundation is rotting and the nation has a horrible case of athletes foot. Keep going and - wash those feet...I as a Canadian still have faith in our big brother. Yes, happy 235 birthday! Gettin' kind old there! Have a great day ! I was just looking across the lake at y'all yesterday. Enjoy it... I like that on the Fourth of July the Canadian Dollar has reached the highest above parity in Years. It's at $1.04 I know I couldn't multi-quote most of the thread (except for the sour dig at our currency) but thanks for the good will, and happy birthday Jack. Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
Oleg Bach Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Thanks to all who wished Americans/the U.S. well. Thank you for your kind thoughts! The base of our two nations was poured out of Christian doctrine. This foundation is what binds us. Whether America is good or bad at times is not the issue - The issue is loyality and love - "I do not love him because he is good - but because he is my little child". In the over all - America still has more positive attributes than bad - and we Canadians will always in an opportune manner mine out the gold and leave the rock behind...Cos' we may seem passive and overly polite - But we are shrewd and wise - a clever system that judges carefully and makes decisions that enhance our lives. We will never abandon our brother America - nor will they allow harm to us. I guess we are family---and family might bicker and fight..but in the end we are united. Quote
