Michael Hardner Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 I usually hate mainstream media for its contribution to the shallowness of political discussion, so I take note when there are exceptions. The Current Some of the surprises that came out of this programme for me: John Manley indicating that Michael Wilson's GST helped the Liberals twice: once to get them elected, and twice when they didn't repeal it and used the GST to cut the deficit. I thought that was refreshingly candid. Also the former Saskatchewan NDP Finance Minister Janice MacKinnon indicated that she was concerned that too many interest groups would have their hand out for spending increases with this budget. Again, refreshingly candid and an admission that finance ministers are more alike than their party affiliations often indicate. Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! fellowtraveller Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 I don't hate The Current, but their overt bias does get a bit sickening sometimes. For Harper-haters, it is condensed into the oxymoronic Best of The Current in an evening show. Quote The government should do something.
