madmax Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 When Fortier quickly became Harpers go to guy some years back, I recognised then, that the Conservatives got an operative in key money places with the intent to behave as poorly as the Liberals did when they were abusing their power and our finances. Conservatives were quick to adopt these Liberal Practices. It will be interesting to watch them bury this story, but even the Liberals couldn't hide things forever. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/canada/breakingnews/ex-minister-manipulated-contract-for-federal-real-estate-sell-off-ndp-105392493.html That's not apparent from a summary of Marshall's testimony contained in a July 2010 decision from the Public Service Labour Relations Board in the case of Douglas Tipple. He chaired a committee of senior officials which picked BMO to advise on the plan to sell off federal real estate and then lease it back. The labour board found he had been unjustly fired from his position and awarded him compensation of $1 million. "When Mr. Marshall was asked why RBC became involved if the committee had selected the BMO, he explained that the minister had intervened and had wanted RBC to also be involved," the board said in its ruling. "Mr. Marshall confirmed that the minister's intervention created a conflict with Mr. Tipple as he did not agree with the minister's decision since the RBC charged significantly higher fees than the BMO." Dewar pointed to that excerpt of the board's ruling to argue in the House of Commons that Fortier "manipulated the request for proposals on the largest real estate government deal in decades." Quote
Topaz Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 I guess this is what happens when power goes to government ministers heads. I'm sure that Canadians are tired of all the wrong doings we've seen over the years and I also wonder when Canadians will give other parties a chance to see how much damage they too can do to us or prove there HONEST government out there.
