Topaz Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Liberal staffer is saying the Tories are trying to discredit the AG by reporting the AG had spent $345.00 for personal development course or "rebirth" sessions for their job. Why? the articles says that the AG is about to come out with her report on the spending of G8&G20, the not tendering of the F-35 jets and without public discussions and the spending of the infrastructure stimulus projects. BTW, if the projects are not done by the 31st of march 2011, then the municipality and the province will have to fork over the balance of the project money. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-notebook/liberal-staffer-accuses-tories-of-trying-to-discredit-auditor-general/article1667099/ Quote
P. McGee Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 The rebirthing business does sound more than a bit flaky, but the cost was only a few hundred dollars. Nothing else mentioned in the Winnipeg Sun story seems to be especially expensive or irrelevant to department work, so this hardly makes the AG's office look hypocritical in identifying multi-billion dollar expenditures as wasteful. If there is proof to support the assertion that the Conservatives were the source of this story, it seems to me that the whole business may be more damaging to their credibility than it will be to the Auditor General's.
