msdogfood Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Hi Anybody find it convenient that Jay Hill said he will not stand for re-election? Now I know he's been in politics for 24 years and that is a long time and by the skin of his teeth he has managed to keep Harper respectable enough to be in power this long, but now he will be gone. This thought crossed my mind... could he be leaving to take a job as a new analyst or ideologue on the Sun TV News Network (aka Fox News North) when it launches next year? Love or hate the guy, if you're Kory, would you not want to recruit him to your ideological cause? Personally, I hope he hasn't been recruited by Kory but the timing would work out nearly perfectly if it is true and in Jay Hill's stepping down statement he said he would still like to contribute to basically what he believes in, but his time in politics is over. So, following the US model, the next logical thing to do is get yourself a cushy media job. Now I know this is Canada and not the US but the Conservative Party of Canada never seems to realize that which is why I brought up the US comparison. Any thoughts? Quote

Don't pensions kick in at 55? Thoughts...? Maybe he gunning for a senate seat? Topaz Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 I read his bio. didn't know he was a farmer from BC and yes he's 57 will have his 200,000+ pension, guess he won't be going back to farming. Probably knows the Tories won't do as well without Harper, so unless he got another job, I think his pension money will go further away from a big city like Ottawa. Quote
