ToadBrother Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 It doesn't matter what "pot" they come from. It is money that the government collects from the people and then spends. You can put it in a different column on a spreadsheet, but to a person paying taxes it makes no difference... the money is still coming off their paycheque. It's also the case that these programs exist in very large part because the public wants them. Welcome to democracy, it means sometimes you don't get what you want (or don't want as the case may be). TimG Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 (edited) Perhaps public access to such discussion papers would help people to understand how budgeting process and decisions are carried out.Access would be good but it is unlikely to help when people simply do not understand nature of the problem (i.e. there are many people who seem to think the Canadian military does not need fighter planes so a cost benefit analyis showing why the current purchase is the best option would not address that fundemental misconception).
