I'm not partisan. To be partisan I'd have to be a Conservative. If you actually examine my postings with regard to federal politics I think you'll find it's not so much that I'm in love with the Tories as that I'm in hate with the Liberals. :-)

It's funny how the anybody-but-harper crowd are simply anti-Conservative. They would never, ever think of voting Conservative - period. I'm in the same boat as you Argus. I have voted Liberal in the past.....but it always comes down to the Leader, the Platform and what Canada needs at any point in time. I'll admit that my politics only allow for Liberals or Conservatives. I cannot even THINK of voting Liberal at this time because of my three criteria; they have no Leader, they have no platform, and the traditional Grand Plan (promises) have no place in these economic times. They'll need to do a lot of soul-searching before I can consider them again.

Yeah, but you seem to line up on the staunchly conservative side of things.Whether or not that means you are a Conservative party supporter is immaterial.

I assume you're in "hate" with the Liberals because they are'nt conservative enough for you,or,they don't offer a conservtivelike position that would appeal to you to enough to vote for them?

In otherwords, you're a conservative partisan who wants the Coservative party to be more conservative.

Why would you deny this?

I despise the gross, hyper hypocrisy I have seen so much of in the Liberals over the years, the self-righteous sense of nobility and entitlement combined with a sly desire to do nothing that doesn't strictly benefit them and an efficient corruption which makes the likes of Mulroney look like the amateur he was.

I assume you're in "hate" with the Liberals because they are'nt conservative enough for you,or,they don't offer a conservtivelike position that would appeal to you to enough to vote for them?

There aren't very many issues where the Conservatives are more conservative than the Liberals of late. And even fewer issues in the past when the "Conservatives" were the "Progressive conservatives", And there are really only a few issues in which I'm staunchly on the "right", including the belief that people ought to be responsible for their own lives.

I had hopes for Chretien, at first, though I doubted they'd come to anything, despite his brave and noble words. But he turned out to be nothing but a liar and thief much like Mulroney - if more sly about it. When I realized what manner of thing he was I clung to some hopes that Martin would boot him out and do better, but eventually turned out to be nothing but a pompous dithering ass. Dion was worse, and now this academic nitwit ... pah, and you expect me to want to vote for these people? I mean, really?!

Whatever the many faults ascribed to Harper - and most of them were born equally by previous Liberal leaders - he is at least a strong and capable hand on the tiller, reasonably honest and honorable and capable even while being hamstrung by his minority. The shrill nature of the vituperative attacks upon him by those who eagerly support worse men in their own parties is supremely unconvincing, as is their near total lack of sensible or practical policy alternatives.

Why do I despise the Liberals? Because they aren't conservative enough? No, I don't despise the NDP. I'd never vote for them as I believe they're hopeless social engineers and economic imbeciles but I don't despise them.

I despise the Liberal Party because it deserves to be despised, because of the assortment of shrill, self-righteous, venal, dishonourable, self-serving, wretched people who it pushes upwards to leadership positions. And no, I don't consider Ignatieff himself to be dishonouable so much as incompetent.

Denis Codere as the next Liberal leader anyone? How... fitting. I"m sure a greaseball like him will redeem the party's honour. <_<

Mr. Kenney pleaded with opposition MPs to recognize that the legislation is a carefully crafted package, designed to both speed the acceptance of bona fide refugees and to speed the exit of bogus claimants.

Among other things, the new measures would cut the time it takes for a refugee claimant to get a hearing -- to two months from the current 19; it would also slice, by more than half, the average 4.5 years it now takes a rejected claimant to get evicted from Canada.

Kenney Warns Against Gutting Immigration Reforms

The biggest impediment to refugee and immigration reform in this country is the federal Liberal caucus. That has always been the case, but their backbench's obstinacy became even more glaring with the collapse last week of a bipartisan deal between the governing Tories and the main opposition party to speed up the refugee determination process.

Biggest Obstacle to Reform is the Liberal Caucus

The Liberal Party is failing the test of leadership by opposing the Conservative government’s proposed fix for the country’s horribly broken refugee-determination system
