Mr.Canada Posted April 9, 2010 Author Report Posted April 9, 2010 My posting of video evidence is not bigoted at all. I think it's much more honest then what we see on the CBC. They would never show bodies or beheadings on CBC or if they did they'd be heavily censored. Whenever they talk about Afghanistan they hardly ever show video and if they do they show some farmer far away from the fighting or that one of soldiers running behind a wall that every network shows. bloodyminded Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Actually, I have a third example. Does anyone remember all those years ago when the US invaded the island of Grenada? They were there to oust a dictatorship supported by Cuban troops. This was the early 80's. CBC NewsWorld was rather young itself. Anyway, I still vividly remember how the CBC video contrasted so much with that of the other networks, both Canadian and American. The CBC spent the first two days trying to present America as some kind of fascist villain for invading the country to topple a government supported by the local people. They kept trying to show us people in the streets who were angry at America. The only problem was that they just couldn't find any! The people were all wearing American flag tshirts and welcoming the troops as liberators! There were even reports (not shown on the CBC, naturally!) from Grenadians who wanted American troops to stay and for their island to be annexed by the US! It was hilarious! Still, these examples all clearly showed me that the CBC does NOT "tend to post facts - not opinions as facts."! Actually, most media simply paroted official Regan propaganda, so I find it odd that you'd presume such pronouncements and its "news" reporting to be self-evidently correct. There is no hard evidence that the Cubans were behind the coup. There were some hardcore Marxist-Leninists--mostly native Granadians. Castro officially condemned the coup and Cuba held a national day of mourning. In short, Reagan lied into our faces; and all the media that blandly reported his "truths" were nothing more than stenographers. As to your final point, that is more propaganda. Similar to Kuwait after the allies ousted Iraq, and we were subjected to video of Kuwaitis waving American flags, and the flags of other coaltion nations: those flags were handed out by the Rendon Group, a PR firm that is well-paid to put a shining face on international policy, much as they sell us products. (In fact, it's an identical formula.) Where were all the Granadans you saw who opposed the US invasion? Surely you agree they existed...they always do. But the "news" you trust only showed one side of the story. YUou seem to object t any news organization that shows another side.
