August1991 Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) D'abord, this movie was Canada's proposal for the Oscar of Best Foreign Language Film. (It wasn't selected.) Xavier Dolan, a gay 21 year old guy wrote, made, directed and acted in the movie. Second, in Quebec, people have been talking about it for the past six months or so because it is good, funny and weird. "A gay guy argues with his mother." Two people talk to one another. In fact, the movie is borrowed from "Ding et Dong" or "Un gars une fille". (Xavier Dolan's father worked on the sitcom.) For Xavier Dolan, the two people sit in a car, or sit in a kitchen. The camera angle is simple: it's full view. IOW, Quebecers love to talk, and love to listen to people talking. I don't think this movie will work in English, but if you have a broadmind - you might understand another world. This script deserves a good translation; and we all are curious to know whether Xavier Dolan has any broader talent. Edited March 6, 2010 by August1991 Quote
