Bro Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 A liberal win will probably initiate the first western separatist movement. A Conservative win will kickstart the Quebec movement again. This election will decide which one of the provinces Canada can lose with the least amount of difficulty or financial hardships. Of the two,Quebec seems more intent on leaving, maybe it would be appropriate to finally appease them. Quote
Slavik44 Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 we could just make the liberals leave then we would all be happy. However i don't think a con. majority would make quebecers want to leave canada. If oyu look at the BQ, they simple seem to be a pro-quebec party now and less of a sepratist party. I mena i remember hearign their paltform makes no huge mention of soveriegnty. The idea of seperation is also declining in the polls. So who knows but i doubt Quebec will hold another referendum on seperation, yes there is always the possibility they could but, it seems unlikely from perspective right now. in the west it is even much more unlikely as whiel peopel talk about it, it is more of a joke, and next most don;t ahve the guts to go through with it. so i vote none of the above. Kliege Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 When people feel they have no other way to speak out, then they act out in other ways such as separatistism. Quote
takeanumber Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 Or new political parties. 1855 Reform 1921 Progressives 1935 CCF 1987 Reform 1988 BQ We have a proud heritage of doing that. The key thing to look for is a spike in voter turnout. Every time Liberals have been in power for 'too long', there's a spike, the Conservatives get a boost, and then we move into a new party system.
