jdobbin Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 No they weren't. The nearly universal reaction among Conservatives when they heard these stories was "no f-ing way". "Fraid not. The reason the PMO called various media to out one of their own is because there was celebrations ready to welcome new caucus members. http://www2.macleans.ca/2009/10/07/floorcr...ht-on-this-one/ Oh, and possibly the saddest unintended consequence of all: Y’all wouldn’t believe how many Conservatives were popping the champagne corks and readying the red blue carpet for three new caucus colleagues who, as it turns out, were never actually going to show up. It’s all well and good to wreak psychological torture on your opponents, but whipping your own people into a frenzy of excitement like that is just mean. The Liberal party is imploding quite nicely on it's own, we don't need to get involved. But they did as the PMO admitted. Quote
Bryan Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 "Fraid not. The overwhelming majority of Conservatives are not interested in adding Liberal baggage at this time. People have different opinions, and Alykhan Velshi's opinions are his and his alone. And just because the PM has rebuked Velshi for speaking out of turn, doesn't mean that these right leaning LPC MPs don't exist. There are several reporters who claim to have spoken directly to these MPs. If they are accepted, there's going to be a significant outcry from CPC members, not a celebration. Sure it could happen, but Conservatives for the most part won't like it. Again this depends on who it is. The oft-rumoured Ruby Dhalla? No way. Quote

The overwhelming majority of Conservatives are not interested in adding Liberal baggage at this time. You know the majority of the Tory MPs? People have different opinions, and Alykhan Velshi's opinions are his and his alone. And just because the PM has rebuked Velshi for speaking out of turn, doesn't mean that these right leaning LPC MPs don't exist. There are several reporters who claim to have spoken directly to these MPs. And he was slapped down and outed by the PMO. If there are Liberal MPs about to cross over, I guess we should see it soon. And if we don't, then I gotta wonder where the rumours started and why. If they are accepted, there's going to be a significant outcry from CPC members, not a celebration. Sure it could happen, but Conservatives for the most part won't like it. Again this depends on who it is. The oft-rumoured Ruby Dhalla? No way. You are expressing your opinion as that of the majority of MPs. People have different opinions, right? Quote
