maplesyrup Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 With Liberal disarray, Jack and Olivia show could play in Ottawa It didn't hurt her in 1997, when Ms. Chow used the same tactic in her first run against Mr. Ianno, but this time is different, according to the incumbent. "I don't think it's just Tony Ianno talking about this," he said. "It's a matter of integrity."Mr. Ianno's biggest problem in the coming election could be the eclipse of his own career. Long touted as a staunch Martin supporter and effective organizer in the Liberal's internecine struggles, he failed to make cabinet and has since played little role in the visible hand of Mr. Martin's government, locally or otherwise. For better or worse, he, too, is now marching in the shadow of the "mercurial" MP Dennis Mills, the Liberal's designated Layton killer in the riding of Broadview-Danforth. For both Jack and Olivia together, Liberal bumbling on local issues remains their best hope to make history in the House of Commons. The NDP are hoping to pick up quite a few seats in the Toronto area, including Toronto Centre. Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. Goldie Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Chow says if she did run for Parliament in the riding of Trinity-Spadina, she would run on a campaign of defending the rights of Toronto, saying she is tired of the city being taken for granted by the rest of Canada. She says she still needs to decide whether she would better serve her city locally by staying on city council, or whether she needs to go to Ottawa to wage the fight there. "Certainly a lot of Torontonians are feeling pretty tired of being taken for granted for many years," she said. Boo-hoo, I'm in tears over poor T.O. Is this an election issue for the Chow-Layton team? I hope so cause I'm sure Saskatchewan and Manitoba and even B.C. will want to send MP's to stand up for this cause. Did Michigan stop taking T.O's trash and they've decided to send it to Ottawa? Sorry in advance but I wonder why this statement is not torn apart in leftist anti-regional tort as per any Alberta statement via Conservatives? Hipocrites! Quote
maplesyrup Posted May 14, 2004 Author Report Posted May 14, 2004 Ken Dryden's future as a Liberal up in the air? So is Ken Dryden now getting cold feet? He says he is going to take the weekend to make his decision. Perhaps Ken might be perusing the Hamilton East by-election results, and the NDP momentum as he comtemplates his future. Regardless of his decision, I don't think life is going to change much for Mr Hockey. Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know.
