silent bob Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 All the scandals and preceived wrong doing within the Liberal Government gives the distinct impression that they are a corrupt government and party. I do not mean corrupt in an illegal way but a more of a moral way. I won't bore you eith the lack of moral leadership under Chretien, but it appears we are witnessing a parallel under Martin as well. The Adscam inquirey is getting too close to the PM and his friends. Poof charges appear. I am not saying Guite and Brault are innocent but this whole situation stinks of political interference. When Sheila Copps wanted to be protected Martin hang her out to dry saying the nomination process must be transparent. Now he is appointing his friends in BC ridings as a reward even though the residents of the riding do not want them. What happen to that transparent nomination process? Smear tactics against the leader of the opposition. hey, it worked for Chretian in the last election. The Liberal party is morally bankrupt and has to go. For all of those who will peg me as a right wing lackey, I voted for the Liberals twice. This time I cannot bring myself to hold my nose and vote for the devil we know as Joe Who recently stated. I don't know who I will vote for but I will vote. Is the Rhino party still alive?? Quote
willy Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 The PM PM. His sons run his steam ship company. The company that has been fined for dumping waste at sea a number of times. At the same time PM PM tries to appear like an environmental steward. These same steam ships pay extremely low wages of $2 per hour. This is a reflection of his hypocrisy. Why should we believe anything he says? May 6, 2004 - OTTAWA -- EXCLUSIVE -- Environment Minister David Anderson today tabled legislation that would increase penalties for ships discharging oil that could kill marine wildlife, a practice that the prime minister's former shipping company has been fined for before he divested it to his sons. But not only has Canada Steamship Lines been charged with polluting, Prime Minister Paul Martin once advocated jailing environmental polluters. politicalwatch.com Quote
willy Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Board resigns to protest Cunningham appointment VANCOUVER (CKNW/AM980) -- The entire Board of Directors of the Burnaby Douglas Liberal riding association has quit to protest the Prime Minister appointing Bill Cunningham as the candidate. So far, there's been no comment from Cunningham. Two others had sought the nomination and there were charges of racism because they were Chinese-Canadian. Captain Democracy PM PM, is stirring up the grass roots of the Liberal party. It will be interesting to see how this affects the electorate. Quote
odie441 Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Martins ethics are out for display in this article from Canoe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Prime Minister Paul Martin has three areas in which he has direct control over healthcare. In all three areas, his walk -- and not his talk -- proves he is a big supporter of privatization and not the publicly-funded and delivered system he claims to champion. Firstly, recent reports reveal that Martin's own family doctor operates and runs a business that bills itself as the "largest private, preventative health care company in Canada." His GP, Dr. Sheldon Elman, is president and CEO of Medisys Health Group Inc. -- a Montreal-based, for-profit company -- which allows patients with the cash to crash the queue and jump ahead of those who can't pay. Secondly, as finance minister, Martin was responsible for the largest cuts in health care transfers to the provinces in Canada's history. In the last 11 years of Liberal rule, the average waiting period between referral from a general practitioner and receiving treatment from a specialist has doubled. And where once the feds funded 50% of healthcare costs, that has now fallen to 16%. An understandable plunge when other essentials needed funding -- after all, Liberal advertising friends in Quebec need to eat too. And the third area that Martin could make his walk match his talk but doesn't, involves the delivery (and not just the funding) of health care to our troops. The funding and delivery of health care to our soldiers is a federal responsibility. So, what does the Chretien/Martin government do? It closes down what used to be called the Taj Mahal of Canadian hospitals -- the publicly run National Defence Medical Centre in Ottawa -- and sought bids for a new health care deliverer. Quote

August1991 Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 The Pacific Scandal brought down Tory Macdonald in 1873. The Customs Scandal brought down Liberal King in 1925 (who then resurrected himself)! The Pipe Lines debate of 1956 was not so much a scandal as evidence of Liberal C.D. Howe's arrogance. (He believed the Liberal Party and Canada were one and the same thing.) This latest Sponsorship Scandal of 2004 will become part of Canadian political history. Quote
