Smallc Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 The provinces aren't children. The federal government did what was possible given the circumstances. They were paying for more than they can afford. What the provinces chose to do afterwards was, well, up to the provinces. I know you think you know that we would have been better off, but what you say would have worked didn't happen, so we have no way to know. What we did, worked, and the federal government came out of debt and the provinces were later able to do the same. We're in debt again so we may end up down the same road again. It's about fiscal responsibility. Quote

It's about fiscal responsibility. Yes that what an analogy is truth be told they are more like partners. Of which promises were made then reneged on. It is about fiscal responsibility and no matter what you say passing the check and cooking the books is not fiscally responsible. My solutions are just some examples of how money was wasted and how tax bases like the fishing industry were destroyed that also isn't fiscally responsible. Quote
Smallc Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 You have opinions. No one cooked the books. That is an accusation of criminal activity and it's untrue. You don't like what was done, fine. It was done, and it worked for what it was intended. Quote

You don't like what was done, fine. It was done, and it worked for what it was intended. Sure it did! It shifted blame and responsibility from one level of government to another. Smoke and mirrors, nothing more. The reality cannot be ignored, there is only one tax payer. Quote
jbg Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 The old forum ploy of accusing a new member of being an old member. I think jdobbin has one other name, also allegedly from Winnipeg. Bubber Miley is who I have in mind. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
