Pleasure seeking and hormonal drive can manifest in many manners - sometimes the mode of relief that is at hand is the way they are going to go -

Releif for me comes in the form of a hand. For now anyways.

But that's what happened, and it means that homosexuals, like women, blacks, and other persecuted groups, have had to fight damned hard to overthrow those laws. And just because the whole thing seems to make you uncomfortable, you feel that that fight is somehow wrongheaded.

If people did not fight for their rights, and for equal treatment, we would have a population of absolute pushovers. It would also allow those in power to abuse and oppress everyone else not considered normal. If you are what you are, be proud of it, and don't deny yourself a happy and prosperous life because society thinks you are a lil queer.

Perhaps I should've asked this a long time ago, but what are some "special rights" that gays are fighting for, could you give me some examples?

The laws of inheritance are probably the most obvious "rights". CPP benefits are paid to survivors of those who die before they receive their pensions. Being best bum buddy does not count. These are contained in laws about marriage rights and blood relatives. I think economic equality is the foremost right that gays seek because government, in it's benevolence and urge to create more little taxpayers, has in the past granted economic privilege to some over others. You are just trying to make the government more inclusive in it's already unjust laws.

Gays are a group. A special interest group that wants official status as a recognized group and thus offered certain protections. Much like a Union. Unions have special laws that apply to their existence just as you want special laws for your group.

In my view, government should not be entrenching laws in society that deal with benefit to groups or grant special legal status. Society is comprised of individuals and it is therefore individuals that laws should be made for, not groups. Groups in society are the creation of society. Gays are not interested in contributing to a completely heterosexual society. They can form a group and as long as it doesn't detract from society it should be allowed to exist among it. It is only the common bonds of a society that makes it a society. If gays wish to have a recognized group in society there must be some common bond to the society as a whole.

Sex isn't exactly the sanest subject in any society. Should we talk about it or should we just keep it private among consenting adults? Or maybe we should invite government to make some laws?

I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.

Whoa! Big fella!

People are not a "special interest group" and I hope you recognize, as nice as it seems to vote for "rights", such as health care, food, clothing and shelter - these are not "rights" these are votes for a place at the trough. A right is not an entitlement. Bastiat's description of the State as being "the great fantasy that everyone can live off of everyone else" is about rights being confused as privilege and entitlement.

It would also allow those in power to abuse and oppress everyone else not considered normal.

Those in power? Hmmm....the police? The Prime Minister? Government would not abuse and oppress everyone not considered normal, would they? Or...would they? Maybe they would tell us that we should not dislike socialism. Socialists are offended by it.

If you are what you are, be proud of it, and don't deny yourself a happy and prosperous life because society thinks you are a lil queer.

It's hard sometimes but I will fight for my rights to live a happy and prosperous life even though most people think I am a little queer. Thanks.

Human rights is what it's about - not the constant granting of more and more rights to special interest groups. If you grant to many rights to a select few...the rights pile gets smaller for the others and we do with out..There are only so many rights to go around - Gays have enough - they are protected and should shut up now and get on with living...like everyone else.
