Shakeyhands Posted March 27, 2009 Author Report Posted March 27, 2009 perhaps my post was a little tongue in cheek... but does no one have any comments of support or otherwise for our very own Marie Antoinette?? Who was it that said that the poor should buy dented cans to save money? That was classic as well.... oh yes... Tsubouchi Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Muddy Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 I see no problem with cooking geese for once a week dinner for those who normally go hungry. The Canada Goose, once a glorious bird, has become vermin from over population. It craps all over our parks and pollutes our waters. Most are not bothering to fly south anymore.Yet you never hear the nutty fanatical Greens talking about this issue. Why? Cull the bloody things and if the so called homeless don`t want to eat a hardy meal of Goose then let them forage elsewhere. Quote
Molly Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Then there's the old standby of slicing the breasts into a pan, dousing them with mushroom soup, and popping the whole mess into the oven. That's a good supper, too. Saskatchewan used to have a program of extra deer tags, for donations of venison to the food bank. I don't know what's come of that in the years since-- probably long gone, even before cwd- but it made a lot of sense. So does a use-the-food goose cull. It only fits the dented can analogy if you consider wild meat undesireable, but I'd happily buy a goose or two, even trade hamburger for it, pound for pound. Progressive Tory Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 perhaps my post was a little tongue in cheek... but does no one have any comments of support or otherwise for our very own Marie Antoinette?? First off, Marie Antionette never said that, but besides the historical inaccuracy, it is a little funny. Very much like Warren Kinsella and his reference to 'cats' in a Chinese restaurant. The Conservatives publicly having dinner at the restaurant in question, to prove they didn't serve cat (?), probably did more harm. That being said, the Conservatives are becoming "the biggest pests" and are fast becoming the "cause of a great health hazard." I mean heaven forbid they would like anything that has the word 'Canadian' in it, so we just add that to their list of 'Canadian varmints'. The Canadian Wheatboard. The Canadian Court System. The Canadian Human Rights Commission. Elections Canada. The Canadian Gun Registry. The Canadian Status for Women. That's not the way our system works." Stephen Harper.

Goose oil was also used in a lot of home remedies. My husband's grandmother swore by goose grease and camphor to fight a cold. I don't really like meat so eating goose is no less gross than eating chicken. But then chicken isn't a symbol of our national identity. There's where they may be in trouble. What's next, the loon? They are good eating too, so why not use them to feed people. Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province
