Just ran the names past one of my daughter that likes to hang out with high liberals - she did not recogize any of the names..not even John Tory...all I knew was John Tory...so I don't have a clue who is who - all I know is that the new 40 is sixty...and that the GREEN is the new Red party...internationalist who like to holiday in Amsterdam because because they believe that the debasement of humaity causes equality - green are not environmentalist. They are a fancey new approach for those who want communism world wide...with good dope and no welfare - if you are capable of working in the sex trade which is just wonderful. John Tory - sounds like a Tory ---- I say he's in...once McGinty takes his last audit that pops his brain down at the local Scientologiist org...he sure reminds of one of them.

Ok great quote, would have perfered it to be something else, that is not really what I am doing it for, but okay. At least I can vote for myself unlike other candidates.

Anyway if anyone wants I will answer questions, take abuse ect.

Jason, I like you courage in running. Anyone who runs in an election opens their life to scrutiny and it isn't fun. Some people will even make comments on public forums about you :) and some comments you might not like :(

I put the poll on MLW to give John Tory a place where he could vote for himself since he can't vote form himself in the By Election.

Not only does he not live in your community, he hasn't found MLW yet either.

Good Luck.

I appreciate the opportunity, btw since I do not have a campaign staff, I found this on my own. It amazes me that going door to door or cold calling is the only way to meet people and pander for votes.

I am suprised that I have not had anyone take my offer up.

How often does a candidate solicit feedback on this or any other site?

Is there a way to set up an online chat? I would be more than happy to.

Probably makes you feel like a door to door salesman. People who run in campaigns become very good at the door to door cold call. You need to put friends and family into your campaign. All those hockey people that know you. Coffee shops, Coffee shops, and Coffee Shops are a really good place to meet people. All public events too.

The web is great, but locate a base, and try to find those on the web that live in your riding. Obviously not all are political junkies, Kijijji yourself :)

John Tory has moved into a commanding lead on MLW or a TIE, which would still be a victory for John Tory. I was curious to see if he would gather support here on MLW.

I am curious to see if he is going to gather support in the riding. For a Leader of the Party, there are very few signs on lawns. Every other election it looks like a sea of blue.

The Liberals are going all out to win this riding. It will do two things. Show that the Liberals are made of teflon, when it comes to the economy, lack of direction, and politically expand into new ridings with good news announcements. It could also result in the Liberals getting rid of their biggest asset if John Tory Loses.

Progressive Conservatives and Liberals caught stacking By Election poll.

John Tory Campaign goes over the top!!! Brilliant!!!! More votes for John Tory, then there are people in the riding. Well done spin meisters and script writers. How do you like this press?

thepost.ca

On Sunday, the vote count had climbed to over 29,000 for Johnson and over 32,000 for Tory.

On Monday morning, the number of votes for Tory had skyrocketed to 89,463, giving him 66 per cent of the total and dropping Johnson to 22 per cent. In the provincial election of 2007, the total number of votes for all the candidates was 48,599. The total number of eligible voters in the riding as of 2007 was 81,953.

You can't track voters by freeping polls.... :)

But it is worse to get caught by the paper!

Some By Election Quotes

"You're going to hear a lot of statistics, a lot of correct answers and a lot of bull," independent Jason Taylor said, launching into his introductory remarks. He spoke of starting his journey into the race "over the outrage of this unnecessary byelection."
Bill Denby of the Freedom Party scoffed at Tory's efforts to bring a hotel-conference centre to Lindsay. "We already had a state-of-the-art conference centre. It's gone broke, what, twice?" He noted that being local has become an issue. "I've been here 50 years,"
John Tory is not a fit for this riding...imho.
Lyn Edwards of the NDP reminded listeners of the number of manufacturers that have closed down in the area. "There is a crisis in the riding and the province.

Turmel has been trying to set a new record for getting removed from debates.

The other independent in the race, John Turmel, arrived in town without confirming his attendance. If not a politician, certainly a scrapper, Turmel holds the Guinness Book of World Records title of most elections contested. He has run 68 times and lost 67 (the other election was cancelled). When he was told he could not participate in the debate, he launched into a loud protest at the stage. Security escorted him out.

I read all the quotes from Johnson and their are many. He sounds like an Ontario Liberal backbencher in waiting.

Might even get elected. Too Bad Really.

Since star choice cut my connection to the Ontario Legislature, I'm not aware of what is happening Toronto. I did see the 4 who are running for the leadership of the NDP though on TVO. After McGuinty goes , who knows who will fill the leadership role.

Hmm, your right.... Just made me think to put up a fun poll for the NDP leadership in Ontario.

I think I should get one going for BC elections too. I think there are other NDP leadership campaigns going and an election in Nova Scotia this year....

Maybe I might make a bunch of polls.

One interesting feature I found on another site, is the ability to cancel or change your vote.

I thought John Tory would win, but I am starting to waver from that decision. I think the Liberals are going to steal this one in a close vote.

The BY ELECTION IS TOMMORROW!!!

Wake up, Wake up....

I'm awake, I just can't get excited! ;)

Somehow, even though he's my only alternative to Dalton McGuilty I just can't feel any inspiration! I think it may be that I still haven't forgiven him for his absolutely stupid gaffe over religious funding during the last election. I do hope he turfed those arrogant young pups who were his campaign advisers. What a bunch of losers!

Hopefully, once he's in Queens Park he'll start to take Dalton to task.

I will promise to be interested in Tory when he loses....

There....... let me help you get interested. I put your post in this thread. This by election is only occuring for the purpose of getting John Tory a seat.

Don't mistake for Jason Taylor. JT is more popular when used for Jason Taylor then John Tory. ;)

The opinions of this discussion forum sooooo represents the general population.

Not even any noise when JOHN TORY LOST!!! And all those who picked him, must be wondering. How do you lose a riding that previously held 60% of the Conservative Vote 2 short years ago, and lose to the McGuinty Government?

That said, the only candidate I know anything about is the one who posted here.

I appreciate anyone who runs and we love to hate politicians.

I'll make some noise madmax.

No doubt Dalton is pleased with this Liberal win. But I would caution the Premier that Tory's defeat was not necessarily a repudiation of the Ontario PCs. Dalton has been at this politics game a long time, yet IMO he is naive enough to think that the PC leader losing the byelection assures he will remain King for who knows how many other mandates. If this Liberal Party victory lulls him into a false sense of security, his government will soon commit bigger gaffes than they already have.

This byelection was a thumbs down to Tory "the interloper" and his policies that were increasingly left leaning. It's enough that we have Dalton "the panderer" ruling the province, we don't need a challenger to wrestle "the panderer" crown from him. It's time the PC party recruited a leader to differentiate them from McGuinty's Liberals. With Tory gone that shouldn't be hard to do.

At around this same time-frame with the Harris Government, things would be falling apart and Harris would be jumping ship and resigning. People would have already died in the Walkerton Water tragedy. SARs would be about to take over Toronto. And electricity costs would be soaring due to unregulated privatization of electricity before Eves steps with caps. (This would happen after Energy Minister Chris Stockwell explains by the California example of rotating brown-outs couldn't happen in Ontario.)

Within this seven-year period, Dalton would have already suffered a few "Not up to the job" campaigns and the economy was still doing well.

Unless someone is going to blame them for the current global recession, there's nothing really comparable or equivalent to pin on the Liberals except for the usual policy disagreements.
