jbg
From the misnamed Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey (link) to the Plains of Abraham (link to thread) political correctness reigns supreme. The "Plains of Abraham" thread speaks well for itself; it needs only be read on an empty stomache, or with a plentiful supply of paper towels to clean up the expectorated meal nearby. As for the Liberty Science Center (link), the setting and the museum facilities are gorgeous. It is a child and family friendly facility. The pablum mush of political correctness being fed there is revolting: Taking as established "fact" man-made global warming; Taking as "fact" that humans inevitably outstrip food supply; Giving blind plaudits for the African National Congress' sudden conversion to being "green"; and Implying that it's all the fault of affluent Westerners. Let's take global warming first. The otherwise excellent IMAX film on the wild parts of the coast of Africa state as a fact that "global warming" will push the sardines further south. Global warming is the subject of serious scientific debate. In particular, the Southern Hemisphere appears to be cooling and the film did not mention Jo'burg and Pretoria's 2007 snowstorm (a rare event) or obviously Buenos Aires' snow that austral winter, first since 1917. The movie gives plaudits to the government of South Africa for establishing a marine preserve on the coast. The movie does not state the obvious, that the "marine preserve" will have corruption-generated exceptions. I somehow doubt that the hard-boiled politicians that run the African National Congress suddenly have the environment at heart. Without knowing I am quite certain that favored companies (that pay bribes) will poach on the preserve. That is rife in the Serengeti in Tanzania and similar Kenyan facilities. Other parts of the museum talk about problems in feeding the world's population. None of these sites make reference to the obvious fact that most of the countries facing starvation either confiscate farmland and crops directly (Zimbabwe is a great example) or pay farmers articifically low prices so that the restless urban dwellers don't revolt or, in rare moments of democracy vote the government out. There are few famines in countries that allow the agricultural sector to operate in a normal manner. The museum is a great "feel good" place. The museum certainly doesn't deign to mention that it itself is built on filled-in marshland, in a delicate ecosystem. Oleg Bach
Those that are overly politically correct will go the way of the Doo doo bird. The will extinct themselves though their own hand. Take the university professor who is going on about carbon foot prints and over population - who is suggesting that in Canada we had better get on it quick and limit the birth rate....the politically correct will listen and in one generation they will all be gone ----Thank God.....just as it was 30 years ago I knew this young professional cowboy type - a motocross racer...His brother was a very early politically correct socialist social worker - he suggested to his stupider younger bike riding brother that the world was over populated - so the idiot - unmarried and all of 24 years old goes out and gets a visectomy to do his bit for the planet - well they guy is dead now and with no offspring carrying his lack of survivalist genetics...great ----next! As for the professor who professes that we stop reproducing ---- I suggest he live up to his word and JUMP!

Oleg Bach
He certainly did his bit for the planet. There are enough hippy granolas on the planet now. No this guy was a mocho professional dirt bike rider - he did have an older bother that was a socialist 70s style social worker...who fought for womans rights but married a mail order bride from the orient.....oooh shit - I said orient...I mean the phila - no ----chhhh chy.....nnnn aa.....I am trembling - actually orient simply means east - so anyway...This guy is walking about and is almost 60 with no children...what a loser ....I did my duty and brought people into the word - good people...independent thinkers...and those hippy granolas are just about gone - when you see the aged version of them on the street they are quite sad with their stupid grey pony tails ---- people that are locked in a time warp and stonned on pot - for 30 years straight ...I hope they all had the surgery - and I hope their female counter parts went the abortion route to rob and punish their pony tailed mates... Just writing a bit here...no offense.
