Smallc Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 The Coalition was formed because Harper said he didn't want to run a deficit. Where is your proof? Quote
Mr.Canada Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) "Given the critical situation facing our fellow citizens and the refusal and inability of the Harper government to deal with this critical situation, the opposition parties have decided that it was now time to take action," Dion said at the accord signing, flanked by NDPLeader Jack Layton and Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe. they did agree to accelerate infrastructure spending, construction and retrofit spending on housing, make strategic investments in key sectors such as manufacturing, forestry and auto manufacturing. "We believe there are steps that can be take very rapidly, bold steps," said Layton. "There will be sense of urgency, focus and determination on the need to address the economic crisis, using those tools which can produce the most rapid action possible." Source and Full Story for all three quotes.I should have said that Harper wasn't going to run a big enough deficit and he was wanting to wait to see what the US was going to do first on the Auto makers. The Liberals, Layton and the Separatist Bloc wanted to throw even more money around ASAP. The three amigos didn't think it wise to wait for the US. Smallc Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 There's no proof there that Harper wasn't planning to and didn't want to run a deficit. Quote
Mr.Canada Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) There's no proof there that Harper wasn't planning to and didn't want to run a deficit. I'll post it one more time just for the people who are a little slow. "Given the critical situation facing our fellow citizens and the refusal and inability of the Harper government to deal with this critical situation, the opposition parties have decided that it was now time to take action," Dion said at the accord signing, flanked by NDPLeader Jack Layton and Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe. they did agree to accelerate infrastructure spending, construction and retrofit spending on housing, make strategic investments in key sectors such as manufacturing, forestry and auto manufacturing. This is the third time I've explained to smallc that I mistyped and fixed it in bold here. Smallc Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 You haven't proven anything. I'm not the slow one here. If Harper really doesn't want a deficit, then he shouldn't make one. If he really didn't want one, and he makes one, that means he is willing to sacrifice what he believes in for power. Is that what you're saying? Quote

Smallc Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 I still have not seen you prove that Harper did not want a deficit. It seems that the opposite is true given his massive spending increases and tax cuts that took place at the same time. I thought he knew what he was doing. I voted for him. It seems that I was wrong. Smallc Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 So, now that he waited for the US...and spent the money anyway...and now that he is going to erase all the debt payments made in the last three years by having the largest deficit in 15 YEARS...how does him wanting to wait an extra month prove that he didn't want a deficit? This has nothing to do with the coalition. I want to know how his irresponsible action is supposed to infer that he didn't want a deficit. Quote

Smallc wtf are you talking about? -Harper wanted to give a stimulus package but after Harper saw what our biggest trading partner was going to do first since the businesses are based there. -This wasn't fast enough for the 3 amigos so we had CoupScam. Smallc Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Try to stay on topic please. I am on topic. I'm talking about the massive deficit that Stephen Harper and Jim Flaherty (with help from global problems) led us too. Now, I see you want to delete the topic. Well, if it is closed, I'm sure someone else will reopen it anyway. Quote
