TOhasCLASS Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 The coalition Government is the best case scenario for the good of Canada and it's political system. I would rather the minority government work with the other parties to provide leadership through these tough economic times however it is quite apparent that this will not be the case and for the following reasons I see a coalition government necessary. 1. Harper insists on destroying the other political parties in Canada rather than looking out for the average Canadian and the future of Canada. Harper is too self indulgent and is caught up in his needs and it seems to have caught up with him. 2. While I am not a CPC supporter I would probably be more angry at the coalition if the CPC had a leader who was more open and willing to get down to business and work through the task at hand. I feel that most of the CPC MP's would welcome a more flexable PM and that many are truly intrested in looking out for their constituents. Harper is a control freak who doesn't understand that he has not been given a full mandate (majority) to lead this country. He still hasn't figured out that he is required to make concessions with the other parties in order to get things done. 3. He has trouble understanding that the majority of Canadians DID NOT vote for him and that his bully tactics and lack of accountability to Canadians through communication with the media and accepting the official opposition parties as part of our political process has gone too far. Best case scenario - Harper resigns and a new more colabrative CPC PM steps in. (never gonna happen) What will happen - coalition government This may be good at this time because all the parties entered into a contract which excludes partisan ideals ie. Green Shift, Separtism ... and includes concrete goals like meeting the needs of the average voter in this time of economic turmoil. Quote
mjp Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 4. the GG allows the coalition to take over and in 4-6 months we're back to the polls anyways. in the mean time harper will still be scraping egg off his face, might face a leadership review. The people that did not vote due to ID problems will get their info squared away and then vote in the next election. And the con's lose many of their seats. 5. GG allows another election, and Harper wont have time to scrape egg off his face, and people that did not vote due to ID problems will get their papers in order and vote, causing harper to lose seats.
