You are too stupid to know how good this country is.

These statement seem to abound aplenty from those "federalists" out there trying to convince us all the Canada is good for the west.

Yet, not surprisingly, no one has answer my simply, direct question with anything but emotional fluff. To me, that's either stupidity or ignorance or just plain brainwashing.

So, yet again, I ask simply and directly:

What are the benefits to staying in Canada, from the west's perspective?

no quebec, dion, duceppe... might lose poutine, but we could call it something else

Posted (edited)
why do you think quebec never left?

excuse me for a moment before I answer that... (baaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaha  )...

ahem...ok. Quebec's separatist movement is futile intentionally. They never wanted to.

There are over 1000 functions that would have to be taken over by the seperated federal gov't. ...

...its just setting up all those new agencies and hiring employees.

Well I'm glad you brough that up - because that's the first thing as a republic we'd do! Elminate all of these useless, Trudeaupian progams and unionized make work projcets that the left wing and central Canada is so famous for.

Historically Canada has been good for everyone , sea to sea. That you dont know that merely reinforces my earlier statement.

You take the cake sunshine.......why only just earlier you posted

Get it? I don't love this country, I hate it. It's a disgusting, despicable trough of power and greed in which the central and eastern Canadian provinces feed at our expense. That's become obvious. Clear enough for ya?

No emotion in that post.

Like I said...

What could we have to offer you that you don't already have? All you seem to care about is money and politics. Quite shallow ideals if you ask me.

Logical. Logical.

Please. Help me see the light?!!

I love it when I ask the question: "what are the befefits of Canada to the west"

and the answer is, essentially: "Canada".

that's a circular argument. With any decision comes a cost benefit analysis.

I can't believe I've asked this question now several times and no answer on the "benefit" side has been forthcoming.

If all you care about is money, then there is nothing to offer. You are getting more commons seats in 2011, we have a Conservative Minority Government with a Prime Minister from Alberta; and we have a stable, free, prosperous, and peaceful country. I'm really not sure what else you want.

excuse me???? what is ONT and QUE's issues??? money and political power... all we out west want, is a voice that will listen to our needs, and not ask for all of our money, tell us how to run our province, tell us that we are the sole reason why the environment is falling... we're tired of everyone out East telling us that we are the problem, but you all want the hand outs and fistfulls of money handed over with nothing in return, not even gratification for all we do for canada

and i'll bring my example back of ALBERTA handing over $25 MILLION to QUEBEC to build a museum, QUEBEC REFUSED to fly a Canadian flag in front of this museum...

i think that sums up a lot of our feelings towards the east and this so called CANADA that they speak of... we see a very different Canada, we love Canada, but we love WESTERN Canada

You want that? Get another 8 million or so more people.

You make your contribution to this country the same as I do. I live in a city that has a net loss of 12Billion dollars in taxes and you will find , maybe, 10 people who want to separate. All this in the size of Calgary.

The east isnt your problem, Ottawa is.

how about not having a government coalition throwing out all of the above... how about letting the Conservative gov't run longer than 2 1/2 yrs... how about not letting a liberal leader who got the least amount of seats in liberal history with his own party throwing him out of leadership in may combined with a known separatist run our country with a power hungry NDP leader?? how about we start there and then we'll talk

And if the roles were reversed you would be silent.

you back that claim up with a link to prove that calgary loses $12 billion in taxes, cause that is full of crap and you know it... this province has made billions in SURPLUSES, we have NO deficit, we are not in DEBT.. tell me any different, and you better provide some links

Did you look at the news yet today?

so what? its being prolonged till the budget comes out... this was all brought on by the liberal party and supported by separtists... dion has to save face for having the worst election in liberal history, and this is how he's done it... and if anything, he may have woken the sleeping giant of the west, and Canada could face severe consequences if enough voices out west get heard to start the ball rolling on separation... which i am sure there already has been and will continue and will eventually get heard by the rest of the population

Or....we simply leave confederation and

Quebec

Money

Failing Manufacturing Sector

Lack of Natural Resources

Will all be your problem, without "uncle Al" to sign the cheques anymore. I truly don't understand why Alberta doesn't wave it's wealth around a little more as leverage.

I mean, Quebec does it all the time and they offer NOTHING to Canada, yet somehow...it works.

From what I see today, I think the Liberals will end up supporting the government.

You're just as wrong there as you are about Canada. Quebec offers much to Canada through culture, diversity, and ideas. Alberta offers other things. We're all in this together and we all have something to contribute. Wake up and look around. The world doesn't end at Alberta's borders.

yawn... better give them a $30 billion stimulus package to utilize that and stabilize the economy then

Like what? Examples please.

I just told you what they contribute. Culture. Do you really need an example? Diversity. Again, I'm sure you can figure that out. Ideas? Everyone offers ideas. your offering them here as ill thought out as they are. Quebec believes in a strong social fabric at the core of their identity. Its something that many of us could learn from.
