jdobbin
http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-cbsrenew...0,2420547.story More than three weeks after it was renewed in Canada, the summer hit drama "Flashpoint" has received a vote of confidence from CBS.CBS announced on Friday (Sept. 19) that it has ordered a 13 episode second season for "Flashpoint." Not surprising about the renewal. Last Thursdays episode scored the highest ratings of the 13 episodes so far in the U.S. The series held its own against Olympic coverage and showed that a series, set in Canada could be successful on U.S. primetime. At first I thought the series downplayed its location but over the duration, the show became a lot clearer that it wasn't taking place in the U.S. I think many people can remember the generic crime series Night Heat. It went out of its way to make sure that it hid its Canadian identification markers.
Drea
I've watched it a few times and really think it's good. The last one had me cryin' me eyes out! That girl who was held captive for years... And I also like the fact that they don't try to "hide" that it's Canadian.

That girl who was held captive for years... That episode certainly had the highest emotional resonance. I think the series proved that people want original programming in the summer and early fall and the show was rewarded with an audience even against stiff competition from the Olympics.
