jdobbin Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 http://www.channelcanada.com/Article2387.html The newly branded digital specialty service, announced today by Canwest Broadcasting, will provide unparalleled access to more than 250 movies a month showcasing popular titles that celebrate the adventure essential to every great movie plot. It will kick off October 6, 2008, replacing Lonestar. I guess that ends a channel that some liked for seeing westerns. I don't know how this channel is different from some of the other cable movie channels in place now. Quote

Lonestar WAS a good channel and I do like my westerns, but to have a channel dedicated to westerns when the genre goes in short spurts doesn't make much sense. Not enough western Content to fill a channel. Also didn't help that they didn't have new shows. Lonestar quit being an exclusive western channel when it played regular movies to get better ratings. If it plays big budget Hollywood movies 95% of the time it will already be a different channel than the other Canadian movie networks. This is the type of changes I was talking about when I mentioned the new CBC sports channel. I wonder if they have to ask the CRTC if they can change. I know the Comedy Channel protested when the CBC showed Royal Canadian Air Farce on Newsworld and won. Some of the other movie channels may protest. Quote
