Melanie_ Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Stop the presses and circle this day on your calenders: Leafless is correct: It had to happen sooner or later - the law of averages and all. He isn't due again for at least a couple of years, though. Quote For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others. Since when does the opinion of a feminist granny matter, especially one that never backs her own mean spirited allegations/opinions with any type of proof. Just fade away Melaine. Quote

tammyangela Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 This is NOT the first time Gabriel Deng has been charged with rape. He and a "friend" were charged with rape in 2003. I know this for a fact because the "friend" is my ex ( thus the reason he is my ex because I left him over this ). They were both charged with rape in late winter / early spring of 2003. Both men were let out of prison on a Promise to Appear and with curfew conditions. Niether men followed the curfew conditions and the police never checked on them. At least from what I know from the time they were charged until the time I finally left the "friend" on Aug 1, 2003. It is really sad that the Canadian Justice system allows people charged with violent crimes out on bail or promise to appear orders. These people should be locked up until their trials are completed and they are either found guilty or innocent. The saftey of the public far outwieghs the rights of individuals. I also read in this thread someone saying that the word "rape" does not appear in the media articles. Having sexual contact with a minor is still legally considered "rape" and if someone under the age of 14 has sexual relations with an adult, it does not matter if they consented or not. The age of consent is 14 years of age. This means that any sexual contact with someone under 14 is illegel and is the rape of a minor ( or child abuse ). I am not sure if the third "undentifiable" man is my ex husband or not. But, I have been tested 3 times for HIV and am negative. I have remarried and am very happy with my new partner. Which brings me to the next point. It is the responsiblity of BOTH partners to ensure that their sexual contact is SAFE. It is medical knowledge that a person is more likely to pass HIV to another during the initial infection. Meaning, they are more contagious even before the Flu like symptoms and the tests can even detect the HIV virus. A person may unknowingly spread the virus through contact with others during this period. Any person who knowingly has sex with another without protection is putting their own lives at risk. And my personal belief is that once a person has contracted HIV and been diagnosed, they should be informing all partners of their condition. However, some people simply do not care. They are doing this because they have no regard for the health and saftey of others. Most HIV positive people are responsible, a few are not. Our society has clearly accepted casual sex as the norm. Casual sex, affairs, cheating, etc may be fun and exciting, but it comes with dire consequences , including infectious and sometimes fatal dieases. If this is the lifestyle one wants, it is their choice. But, protect yourself and others. It is the responsiblity of all who engage. Just my views.... Quote
