Regulus de Leo Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Yet they will enforce dog owners to keep their dogs on a leash. If people can be forced to keep their dogs on a leash can't they be forced to have sex in a private place? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml.../13/wgay113.xml "Why should we try to impose something that is actually impossible to impose, which also causes little bother for others and for a certain group actually means much pleasure?", he said. Amsterdam's beautiful Vondelpark in the centre of city draws hordes of summer visitors, families, skaters and joggers. But the park's rose garden has become famous as a trysting spot for gay men looking for uncomplicated sexual encounters. " Quote Imagine... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwAtNILh6uY
AngusThermopyle Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Personally I think its a bad idea to allow this in a public park. If the laws against it can't be enforced then I suppose its an easy way out of a dilema, I can't see why they wouldn't be enforceable though. Also rather interesting in a very very strange way was the story of the woman stuck on the toilet after two years sitting on it. The link is included with the article about the park. Guest American Woman Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 (edited) Why would anyone be allowed to have sex in a public park? When I go to the park, I don't care to see anyone having sex-- gay or straight. Seems to me it would be easy enough to enforce-- just arrest anyone engaging in sex in public. Regulus de Leo Posted March 16, 2008 Author Report Posted March 16, 2008 What is lacking is the political will to arrest certain groups breaking the law. Ontario is seeing the same thing down in Cayuga. Anyone who asks that the law be enforced is branded a racist. Quote Imagine... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwAtNILh6uY

Anyone who asks that the law be enforced is branded a racist. Yes, that is it exactly, a lack of political will. We don't see much in the way of courageous or principled decision making from European politicians. It seems they will always choose whatever seems the easiest way out of anything. And what the hell is it with gay men and parks anyway? They don't have homes? They can't pick up their boyfriends in bars and go somewhere private? They have to use public bathrooms and parks? They are cheating on their boyfriends and in some cases their wives and girlfriends and some just like the thrill of anonymous sex. Quote Imagine... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwAtNILh6uY
jazzer Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 So what's the problem? According to the article "condoms must always be cleared away, it must never take place in the neighbourhood of children's playgrounds and the sex must be restricted to the evening and night-time," Quote
Melanie_ Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 And what the hell is it with gay men and parks anyway? They don't have homes? They can't pick up their boyfriends in bars and go somewhere private? They have to use public bathrooms and parks? Agreed, Argus. This has nothing to do with gay rights (which I support). I don't care who they have sex with, just don't do it in public. To the gays in Holland - get a room! Angus - the story about the woman on the toilet seat was just bizarre! Why wouldn't the boyfriend do something earlier? Can you imagine living for two years with someone who refused to get off the pot? Its an internet joke now, but I feel sorry for her; she obviously needed a mental health intervention long ago. Regulus de Leo Posted March 17, 2008 Author Report Posted March 17, 2008 My sentiments exactly. The world has gone to hell in a handbasket! There was this Globe and Mail noted architectural critic who ---a few years back--described goings on at night at a downtown park and made an argument about 'gay space' etc etc. Was rather controversial but elegantly phrased nonsense.
