First. Are you willing to be paid the equivalent dollars your counterpart in a foreign country is being paid for doing the same job? I didn't think so.

Perhaps you should rephase your question....Would we be willing to take a pay cut in order to keep our jobs...

but that is only a small part of the problem is it, there is many things that drive industry away...Unions, safety requirments, enviromental requirements, taxes, pension plans, medical plans....and many others all combine to make China a pretty attractive deal....

Consider that 18% of working age Canadians are either unemployed or on social assistance, working Canadians are making up their tax share

Not all of your 18 % is collecting EI or welfare because the can't find a job, but rather won't find a job....and we working class stiff pay because our gov't can't police that problem...

And once again that is just a small part of the problem, Canadians don't want to work, when EI or welfare pays so well.....it should be work or starve baby....can't make ends meet then apply for assistance to make up the difference...Today we don't take jobs that don't pay as well as assistance....

To put it bluntly. Canadian goods cost less than imported goods, even at a higher price.

They may in your world cost less, but when i the consumer go out shopping for goods and services i buy the best product for the best price...want to compete in that free market then you need quality as well as the lowest price...

and if i have to go to the states to make my money go further....the thats what me and most Canadians will do...

And to use that guilt trip on the rest of us, to put cash back into these companies is just not right...Can AM wants to sell bikes then we should all be treated the same across the board...not one price for Canadians and one for the US....GM is finding that out with it's price adjustments....and if some guy losses his job because the avg auto worker is making over 60- 70 k a year then so be it....Can you say fries up...your hired...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.
