In a Commonwealth Fund-supported study comparing preventable deaths in 19 industrialized countries, researchers found that the United States placed last. While the other nations improved dramatically between the two study periods—1997–98 and 2002–03—the U.S. improved only slightly on the measure.

we went from seventh to sixth place.

France is still #1

Take that Greece Norway and Germany !

er...dancer what happened to your old homeland? Too many puddings?

The native scot has terrible health as a rule. Like many indiginous peoples, giving up their traditional foods like oats, kale and whisky in favour of the colonizers worst fare has made them fat and prone to heart attack via the clogged arteries. When everything is fried including desert.....

To be fare though, the scots aren't the smartest when it comes to food. Back when starvation was looming through crop failures and enclosures the scots blessed with a coastline filled with the fruits of the sea avoided as unclean....and eating pork which can be raised on the worst fare is relatively new for them.

Now mind you, again like many indiginous peoples they were very frigal 'bout the ships. Nothing was wasted, With the hair they made the kilt and sweater, the skin their shoes and the everything else their dinner mixed with nature's best oatmeal...nothing was wasted.

I know exactly what you mean. But that week, that day to be precise I will be dining at the Escabèche in Notl. It will be our first weekend away from the wee ones in almost 9 years...I said to my wife, think they wil have a gourmet haggis, taters and neeps?

She looked at me as if I was nuts....

"just don't get into the 18 year old ...."

She meant the malt of course.

Good for you ... enjoy. Big fan of The Oban Inn myself.

I'll have an extra helping (best with a drop or three of malt on top btw) and think of you on the 25th.
