Pellaken Posted January 15, 2004 Author Report Posted January 15, 2004 YEs. Lord would have been someone both sidescould live with. Stronach will cause another Schism. if she wins, Jacko should get Olivia to start planning the new look for Stornoway.Goldie, I never called her "evil" I used the colloquialism "evil twin" And as for Day.... If only he were running. what about Clement? he is "stomachable" Quote
Neal.F. Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Don't know much about him. He's not "stomachable" , if he's a social liberal.... Nevertheless, he's a write off, since all the Ontario heavy hitters are lining up behind Stronach. Clement will get neither endorsements nor adequate funding. He lost his seat in the last election. That's excusable. he could win one federally. But to lose one's seat, and then lose a leadership race, badly, you're finished in the big leagues. He's yoiung enough to fight another day. And most PC establishment in Quebec is also behind Stronach. Harper had better secure a goodly number of ridings in Ontario, or she'll win by delegate count. Quote
Smiling Moose Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Stronach represents everything that is wrong with the PC party in Canada. Remember how she was trying to take credit for being Harper and McKay together shortly after the merger? If she did have something to do with the merger, which I doubt she did, it's a classic case of elite-manipulation. What do you think has driven the Reform movement in the west for the past decade? Eastern centric Bay Street/Elite manipulation. It's not hard to look back and see the many examples, CF-18 contract etc. I'm tired, and many in the West are tired, of this type of politics. A pretty face with lots of money (her fathers money) does not buy creditability (or a political career). And the fact that all the old blue Tories are lining up behind her should make it obvious that they see her as a puppet - to which they can control from the sidelines. If this women managed to win the leadership, kiss the conservative party goodbye. As I and many others like me will do our best to utterly destroy it. Quote

I agree with your assesment on the future-or lack thereof- for the Conservative Party should this elitist be elected. I would wholeheartedly endorse any efforts to destroy it in such an eventuality. It amounts to the hijacking of a legitimate popular movement by the elitist moneyed establishment. Funny how the lefties whined about an Alliance takeover. Quote
