Argus Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 What they don't seem to understand, Margrace, is that if the mom were to stay at home, the gov't would then lose $10,000 per year in income tax (that is how much I paid last year after write-offs). Obviously they are thinking with their little heads instead of the ones on their shoulders. Is it cheaper for the govt to provide $7000 per year in child care expenses for 5 years or losing $10,000/year for 25 years? Hmmmm let's add it up... $35,000 for childcare vs $250,000 in potential tax income. This goverment is an idiot. I would question your logic if not your numbers. What if there are two kids at home? That makes it $14,000 in grants in order to get $10,000 in taxes. And I don't see how stay-at-home moms have to stay there for twenty five years. The first five years until the child goes to school full-time makes it rather less of a loss, and as I said, if there are two or more kids then it's cheaper to have mom take care of them. margrace Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 What I said was that the government shouldn't unlevel the playing field in a way that encourages mothers to work when, economically, they're not replacing the cost of their child care.I know very few Americans that want Canada to belong to the US. Relax. But you know some Aye Quote
jbg Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 But you know some AyeNone that know much about Canada. Not many Yanks would want to inherit Quebec, the reserves, the Territories, NB, NS, or even Ontario north of Sudbury or North Bay. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
