Brain Candy Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 (edited) My doctor advised me to lower my cholesterol. It isn't extremely high, but high none the less. So I say to him, I don't eat red meat more than once a week....where do I make the changes? So I get a sheet that has foods to avoid. Right at the top is regular cheese. I ask, does Gloucester and Stilton qualify as regular cheese? (thinking surely the mainstream cheeses are bad and the really wonderful ones are great, sort of like the diff between lard and olive oil.....no....all normal cheese and even spreadable American cheese is bad. ...anyway, the # one thing I can so to lower my cholesterol is to eat more fibre, so to that end I'm on my 2nd week of the Kellogg's All Bran Fibre. And it's good....I am regular like clock work....... and for some reason, Queenslave's posts remind me of my fibrous diet Heard of the Paleodiet? http://www.earth360.com/diet_paleodiet_balzer.html http://paleofood.com/ Edited November 30, 2007 by Brain Candy Quote Freedom- http://www.nihil.org/
M.Dancer Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 The cereal is the same as eating sugar and your doctor doesn't know what he's talking about. A serving of all bran has 7 grams of sugar. A double double has 10 grams. If the only fibre I was getting was from all bran and sugar was a large part of my diet, you might have a point. The difference is we have the benefit of medicines and lack of warring local tribes. Im not saying its perfect but its healthier then all the vegetarian, quick weight loss and fast food diets of today. Quote Freedom- http://www.nihil.org/
