Higgly Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 (edited) Do we want a forum where people can debate the social currents at work in the world, or do we want a forum where certain cultures are evil? Do we want a forum where people can debate the issues at work in any given society, and discuss those issues intelligently, or do we want a forum where anyybody who says bad things about one side or the other is a racist or an asshole? Do we want a forum that is informed and aware, or do we want a forum that is driven by ideology? Equiring minds want to know. Edited October 7, 2007 by Higgly "We have seen the enemy and he is us!". kuzadd Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 what kind of forum do we want? Do we want a forum where people can debate the social currents at work in the world, or do we want a forum where certain cultures are evil? debate the social currents at work Do we want a forum where people can debate the issues at work in any given society, and discuss those issues intelligently, or do we want a forum where anyybody who says bad things about one side or the other is a racist or an asshole? debate the issues in play in ANY given society, intelligently. Do we want a forum that is informed and aware, or do we want a forum that is driven by ideology? I'd rather the informed and aware and toss the ideology. There are so many, many topics that could be discussed, in a rational and realistic manner, if only, if only, if only.......... Ideologies are generally not my cuppa. Ideologies IMO, are for the weak. Insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent - do not use them. It is okay to criticize a policy, decision, action or comment. Such criticism is part of healthy debate. It is not okay to criticize a person's character or directly insult them, regardless of their position or actions. Derogatory terms such as "loser", "idiot", etc are not permitted unless the context clearly implies that it is not serious. Rule of thumb: Play the ball, not the person (i.e. tackle the argument, not the person making it).

My mind isn't so narrow that I find it offensive to discuss "Evil Cultures" look at the hell unleashed around the globe in the name of Islam that might not be an issue for you to debate Higgly but the un-nessassary suffering of Muslims and non-Muslims in Islamic countries is important to me. My world doesn't cease to exist at the Canadian boarder. It is pityful that you find it un "Forum" like to discuss evil cultures, Hitler would of welcomed you into his ilk. What you want for a forum doesn't even register on my radar, the forum is privately owned and operated and his "Mission Statement" on the future growth of this forum interests me though. How can your mind be enquiring or as you typed "Equiring" if you are so shallow that discussing anything racist or shallow causes you concern that you must start a thread to discuss "What you" WANT. The wheels of the bus go round and round, for some they never stop spinning. Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy

Why would I care if it registers on your radar. Be there or be square. "We have seen the enemy and he is us!". Pogo (Walt Kelly).

Or notice the only "evil culture" is of course Islamic ! Note the ideology? I would qualify the culture of rampant militarism western style as a definite evil culture which has unleashed lots of EVIL. Killed Millions, maimed millions, but I digress.... Higgly, can you think of any more evil cultures? How about the evil culture of 'white' colonialism here in NA? Ya know slaughter of millions of the natives? Quite evil really. Could one say it was a culture of evil? Edited October 7, 2007 by kuzadd Insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent - do not use them. kuzadd Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 This is the thing. Count up the dead. Agreed, if one wants to look at hell unleashed around the world, count the military bases, one would have to take a realistic look at the US. Reality is quite different then ideology though.
