The true believers don't need it. Those who don't believe will laugh and sneer at it because of how politics influenced the report. I'm in the middle. I believe in global warming. I am unconvinced it is because of emissions. I do not trust so-called scientific reports which are clearly being influenced by politics and alarmist activist groups.
Now I'm a little confused Argus. You say this recently, The more I see things like this the more I think the whole Kyoto global warming thing is little more than a big scam propagated by morons and idiots.
So which is it?

you guys can only kid yourself with your effort to conceal the racism you practice
shame on you
I think you'd better reread Liam's post above. There is nothing racist about it. His gripe, as is most of the West, has to do with the radical extreme fundamentalist muslim, not the religion as a whole.

8-12 hours to see a doctor with a broken arm is absurd.
I waited 7 hours in an ER here to be seen and Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT) was suspected.
Here's a tip from personal experience to beat the emergency room blues: 1) get in a traffic accident, or 2) take an accidental overdose. No wait!

That was just nasty.

The whole box label controversy ignores the point that the minister was paid to vacate his seat for Stockwell Day. Even if the Liberals went into a box marked for moving, how does that change the fact that the evidence exists of wrongdoing.
Aah, the famous Conservative red herring.

This question of an election is quite confusing and trying to sort it out I've come up with this. Harper knows voters don't want an election so he isn't going to call one, but I think he may force the Libs...
And maybe Harper isn't scheming at all. It might be unpopular with his party, but he said he doesn't want and election and you can pretty much count on his word.
Trouble is that doesn't really square with those hate Dion ads he ran now does it?

I think you're taking things a little too seriously. I reread Liam's statement and as far as I'm concerned, it's just an opinion. The only thing that could make it clearer is if he prefaced each sentence with "in my view" or "as I see it" etc.
EDIT: Liam also says "I'll admit to my own ignorance and biases" which tell me even more he is just relating his point of view. I really can't see anything dishonest in his post.

What a moronic waste of bandwidth this poll is.
And still you managed to post twice.

However, there is something about certain apsects Islam that allows a sinister mindset to take hold. I'm not entirely convinced it is geopolitical (i.e., peoples' gravitating to Hezbollah because they stand up to Israel) and I'm not entirely convinced it's social (i.e., the tradition whereby women in certain countries wear black shrouds from head to toe). But there is something anachronistic about Islam, something regressive, something easily manipulated by charlatans -- much more so than any other religion. There is something aggressive and angry and unforgiving about it. ...
all right, I've read your post, now I challenge you to defend it --- take this melange of vagueries and put some support for it -
there is something about certain apsects Islam that allows a sinister mindset to take hold.
What aspects? and what is the something to which you refer?
But there is something anachronistic about Islam, something regressive, something easily manipulated by charlatans -- much more so than any other religion
I dare you to defend this bigotry - I submit it is pure prejudice - not even anything concrete to say, just this hateful, 'boy there's sumpin creepy about those Islamites'
I suggest you do some self reflection and find how you came to such dishonest opinions.
Isn't a dishonest opinion one that is presented as fact? IMV Liam's "opinion" is just that; an opinion.

Stephen Harper is a much shrewder politician than Paul Martin. He will not bend over backwards to appease Danny Williams.
Yeah, just Quebec.

Until such time as you can show me an interpretive UNSC res claiming that the invasion is illegal, it is illegal only in your mind.
Yep, mine and pretty much the world's.

What rules were the U.S. bound by in going into Iraq?
Well my answer would be to kill/capture combatants on the enemy side while protecting civilians and infrastructure. That these combatants don't wear uniforms and hide amoungst civilians when not blowing them up with car bombs makes this job much harder.
What's your version?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
There are no absolute rules of conduct, either in peace or war. Everything depends on circumstances.
---Leon Trotsky
An illegal invasion based on groundless evidence, breaking international law in the process. The fact is the U.S. wasn't bound by anything. The Iraq war was driven by three stoogies in Washington: Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz and Dick Cheney.
-
Okay, let me simplify. What rules were the U.S. bound by in going into Iraq?
-
If you aren't to be bound by any rules, then what's this squeaking all about?
The Americans are bound by rules. However the enemy isn't.
Please state the rules of engagement for going into Iraq, given that there was no imminent threat? Also where are the rules for taking out Saddam, a dictator the U.S. financially supported for years, a dictator gasing his own people using U.S. aid under the watchful eye of the U.S.?

And all they will do is wait it out. This idiotic war was lost in the first three months. There is no changing that.
Andrew
That's because a small but noisy segment of the population of the west wants the war to be lost, and will cointinue to agitate until it becomes true.
Must be why the majority of Americans disapprove of Bush and his war and want the troops brought home.

I'm not certain multiculturalism means anything more than interesting costumes and food during summer festivals. It was originally intended as a means to get English Canadians to accept the French Canadians who live in their midst.
The broader issue of what English-Canada is still seems elusive. I wouldn't look to the CBC or the Liberal Party of Canada for a good answer.
Nor Conservatives, as it was Brian M. and the P.C.'s who made multiculturalism a law. I don't think any party has a handle on the question.

No doubt Christianity has served its purpose pertaining and relating to the advancement of civilization.
Yeah, but then there were those nasty crusades and the Spanish Inquistion, and the witch burnings and...........

Errrrr...no. The economy did this. Claiming the Liberals did it is like claiming Harper has a surplus because of Conservative success. And just so you know, the debt is still there in large part. All the self-congratulatory backslapping by the Liberals over the 90s was because they managed to stop spending more than they took in.
The economic boom thanks to the regulatory cuts of the Mulroney era.
The electorate didn't seem to think so or they wouldn't have decimated the Conservatives in '93.

Ever heard the saying: "the burden of proof lies with the positive claimant"? Perhaps not, eh?
I didn't say anything about proof. You did. I was talking about serious study and research that has taken place over the years. Three sites of many are presented. Try and open your mind a little. As I said earlier, this is not appropriate in a thread discussing global warming.
Overall, data appear to indicate that genetic factors play some part in the development of sexual orientation link
So, I suggest that male homosexuality results, in utero, from an increased ratio of estrone to DHEA. This combination results in the increased growth, and reduced growth of other structures, in the male homosexual brain link

Too lazy? I thought so.
-
As this thread has to do with global warming I'm not going to go off on another tangent. My comment had to do with your excusing all the research that has been done. The info is there: do a search.

The fact that these people use children to add horror to their bombings is completely lost on some. Because in the opinions of a few that we should not be there negates the horror of the situation...
I think it's more than a few.
