  1. I was hoping for more open views like this here. People need to be a bit more critical regarding the things they believe, and the information they are provided. To think that only one or a few stations are biased, is to give in to your confirmation bias. Hopefully more people begin to recognize that money is most often the prime motivator, and that a lot of the little things are designed to keep people arguing, rather than looking at the large problems of the day. It's much easier to acknowledge a sound bite, than it is to actually try to understand an issue. It's much easier to point blame than it is to try and resolve the issue at hand. +1 to your comment though.
  2. They'll just look for the next illegal good that should be legal, due to it's popular demand. They will then try to make money off of that. Or they might try to get into the legitimate side of things, since they have so much practical experience with marijuana. Why is this so hard to fathom?
  3. Seriously ridiculous! Do you actually ascribe to the belief that legalizing a product will increase the criminality behind it's production? That's a pretty absurd train of logic, especially since you omitted any logic from your statement. What typically happens to market share within any industry where the government starts an enterprise? Give me one example of an industry or sector where government involvement actually increased the illegal sale within that same market/industry. Even finding one example would be difficult... Does the LCBO lose money because it employs government workers? The answer is no, because it turns a hefty profit. It would be an almost identical model for marijuana. Government has it's issues, however they can still make money off of a sure thing (like alcohol, cigarettes). I won't even address your other points, because they show such a lack of foresight and logic, that they don't deserve answers. I can just say "no" or "no it won't" too, but that doesn't forward my arguement.
  4. Why is it that we don't see booze peddlers outside of highschools? Your strawman here is that you can't seem to recognize that legalization would mean REDUCED HARM. It isn't a perfect solution, but neither is our current method of action. How can we make strides towards the right way, if we're not even willing to bend in order to alleviate the major issues? Eliminating a major issue, but creating 4-5 smaller ones, is still a step in the right direction, and it's better than jailing Canadian citizens for enjoying their own choices, especially when there are worse choices available (alcohol, pharma).
  5. As it stands, we have no solution currently. Since that is the case, why should we let our lack of a testing solution, affect the long term viability of marijuana prohibition. People are smoking it now, and they will continue to smoke. Until we have a solution to the testing issue, it's a moot point. Legalization will reduce our prison population, saving us money, while also improving revenue yields. Why are we even discussing the options, there is clearly ONLY 1 OPTION!
  6. Do you mind sourcing this? Are you honestly saying that Trudeau converted to Islam? I can post fairy tales on the web too, it doesn't make them true.
  7. Is this type of story the best thing that Trudeau haters can come up with? If you're going to attack anything, at least make it his lack of substance, or his lack of substantiated policy. He is taking a policy out of Harper's playbook, and that is CONTROL THE MESSAGE. Trudeau will wait until Harper has alienated Canadians a bit more, then he will pounce. He's showing himself to be a pragmatic choice, someone who isn't afraid of being transparent, and actually respects Canadians enough to speak to the media (without 100% scripting). If Harper would just open up and answer some questions (without looking like he hates everyone), then maybe he could turn his affairs around. As it stands, he is hiding now until prorogation is over, and then he will once again begin to attempt to control the message. Look for more negative ads regarding Trudeau, as it's the trademarked Harper strategy.
  8. Let's not forget about all of the poor narcotics officers that wouldn't have anything to do should prohibition be repealed. Maybe they could conduct some actual police work at that point...
