  1. Pure Prawn Propaganda No wonder they were unspecific about the exact nature of the Prawn ship distress; a civilization capable of defying gravity, in such an obvious display, can't deal with a little distress situation? This film is full of contradictions and Liberal stereotype assumptions and axioms. Who are the bad guys? Why the corporation, who else? The black criminals, in the ghetto, sitting on an arsenal of advanced Prawn weapons, that only Prawn digits could squeeze, so easily able to be subjugated? Talk about suspending disbelief. My friend and I were crying tears of laughter, through most of this movie, which we took as a superb comedy.
  2. Patrick Swayze- a Good Guy Ya all those movies were great but, you all are forgetting the movie that really launched his career; Red Dawn. This was a truly refreshing film to be coming out of Hollywood, at the time. And it had a really good political message!
  3. NATO's Image in Soviet Union NATO was "the enemy" according to official domestic policy, within the Iron Curtain countries. The rhetoric was that the Iron Curtain was necessary, in order to keep the Capitalist hordes out, otherwise they would invade and destroy, their revered Socialism. This was taught, in schools and constantly broadcast, on their mass media. Just imagine our Red Scare, on steroids and continuing, indefinitely, without any objections, what-so-ever. If you objected to anything, in the media, you ran the risk of being labelled "Dissident" and could subsequently be sent to a Gulag concentration camp or death camp.
  4. Good Post Lictor The Holocaust is a sacred issue, for Jews. This is understandable, considering the mass murder or genocide that Hitler and his Nazis perpetrated, on them. However, for the Left, it is a useful tool, to relentlessly repeat, in movies, on television and on the radio, to distract our attention away from the deliberate exterminations of human beings, which were done, to a much greater extent by their more extreme Left wing comrades, in Cambodia, the Soviet Union and China. I don't think that it is a surprise, that the media is by and large, a Left wing oracle. Does anyone really doubt this?
  5. Pavlovian Conditioning We have been and still are being conditioned by Hollywood, television and some newspapers, to fall into a contrived obsequious stupor, at the mere mention of the Holocaust. Something like 275 films and documentaries have been made about the Holocaust, so that the names of particular camps, like Auschwitz and Treblinka, are household words. Who can name a single Gulag death camp? The Left is using this vehicle as a convenient pretext with which to show that the Right is forever tainted. If people were to become more aware of the humanitarian atrocities, industrially perpetrated by Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Pol Pot, the Democrats, in the United States, the Liberals in Canada and the Social Democrats, in Europe, would all have hardly a chance, at the polls.
  6. Inveterate Fallacy "Why does World War II remain popular subject matter for movies (and video games, and documentaries, and fiction and non fiction books?) Because people love fighting and combat and action and espionage, and World War II is the only war in modern history where right and wrong are completely unambiguous." -kimmy The result of World War II was that half the world's population became incarcerated under Communism or Socialism, in the case of the Third World countries, such as India. Yalta was seen as a betrayal of the eastern European countries, by the United States, for no real reason, except that Franklin Delano Roosevelt was tired and in his dying stages. His administration and political party, had sustained some ideological affinities with Joseph Stalin, the biggest mass murderer, in all of human history. So I fail, for one, to see the "unambiguous" moral clarity, of it all.
  7. Could you please elaborate, for those of us who are unfamiliar with Jim Brown?
  8. World War II Time-Warp World War II ended back in 1945. Since then we have witnessed the collapse of Communism in Russia and it's satellite states. The end of the Cold War is more recent and a major change, that has happened in our time, not our parent's. Why do we still get these vulgar wishful thinking World War II fairy tales rammed down our throats, in the movies and on television? This film is a vulgar glorification of war and violence. Tarrantino's films are blatant exploitations of gratuitous violence and brutality, that should be boycotted, by sane human beings. When are we going to see stories about the fall of the Iron Curtain? That would be much more fascinating.
  9. Ridiculous The NDP was so incensed that they wanted to launch an investigation? GROW UP! For heaven's sake!
  10. Hope So I hope you're right. Stephen Harper is the best Prime Minister we have ever had, in my opinion. I don't think there are any alternatives among his contenders, including Michael Ignatieff, who is intelligent - no question. Harper has more integrity and honesty, as far as I am concerned. Harper was the mastermind behind the Reform Party, at a quite young age, if I'm not mistaken. Harper did acquire parity for the Canadian Dollar, with the American Dollar. No other Prime Minister was able to achieve that. He is also the opposite of Pierre Elliott Trudeau, in that Harper is much quieter, and more of a thinker. Trudeau was an ostentatious rebel who wanted to convert Canada into a Socialist dictatorship.
  11. What a pathetic issue. Who cares what logo is put on a cheque? It must be a slow news day, or something!
  12. Excellent post, Keep It Simple. Thank you for that. Environmentalists or "Greens" are the Neo-Communists of the 21st century, because they share the same agenda as the old Communists; to give the government control over the commandig heights of the economy.
