  1. I think it will backfire. Even is ppl privately share his reactionary views, they won't want to acknowledge it in public.
  2. So much of where we are today is a result of rampant consumerism. Face it, ever since the end of WWII and especially since mind control techniques were studied during the Korean and Vietnam wars, advertising has been increasingly sophisticated and the general population more and more led by the nose. We don't need to buy more stuff to be happy. Why don't we look to the people around us.
  3. thanks for the post - it was informative
  4. Typically, schools teach the latest on any given subject. They also teach students to think critically and decide for themselves what they believe. I don't think children should be "shielded" from any school of thought. Parents can teach their values and also teach their children that others may hold different beliefs / opinions.
  5. Knowing what I know about Gordon Campbell, I feel I cannot vote for the BC Liberals. Not only has he been convicted of DUI, but a good friend of mine who knew him well during his years as mayor has told me something most disturbing about him. My friend (who now lives abroad) although a teenager, knew Campbell quite well during his term as mayor. He was aware that she was a school age teenager and that most of her friends were the same age. Mr. Campbell was at a community event, in his role as mayor, when he was introduced to three girls who were friends of my friend. They were around age 15-16. Mr. Campbell made a sexual invitation to the girls, knowing full well that they were high school students. I won't add any comment to the above, but if necessary, I can contact my friend in Europe. She is willing, if necessary, to supply names.
