Even the most symbiotic circle of criminals needs to recruit new members. It does it mostly by making prejudicial jokes about their future victims as tests to evaluate the cynical potential of candidates. It is at this stage that public enthusiasm can dismantle these circles.
I think this imperialism hides something deeper. English persons (much like French persons for that matter) immigrating to Canada were too often pushed here involuntarily in an attempt to escape misery at home. From there, they may be unable to express directly a taste for revenge.
All to the contrary! Public enthusiasm (however little we have left) is what overwhelmingly constrained the greedy to reveal themselves through the pathologies they develop by reacting to this enthusiasm.
I will even attempt to go farther since you give me some moral credit to spend: those English Canadians who want to block outside influences on their mother tongue and culture may be doing it because they want to be able to easily go back in and reintegrate England, once Canada will be fully exploited and spoiled.
All to the contrary, if some Canadians are happy with no communication skills, it is mostly due, I would guess, because they earn too easily too much money by overexploiting nature.
By proposing innovative ways to detect conflicts of interest, one can be elected president of his state and then he has a chance to pardon who he wants to.
