  1. here are the facts as we know them. khadr was captured by US troops on july 27th, 2002 and incarcerated at bagram airforce base (afghanistan) for 3 months. on sept 26th, arar was detained in new york city and subsequently deported to syria. around the 7th of october khadr was interrogated by the FBI's robert fuller where khadr identified arar by name from a photograph. now unless khadr had access to printed media while incarcerated, how was he able to identify arar by name unless he knew him?
  2. there is nothing in ignatieff's background that strikes me as him being a stupid person. so i can't see him getting tied up with layton and duceppe for short term gain at the expense of long term pain.
  3. the $555 million aid package was announced last february.
  4. wilber, i agree with you. what better time is there to replace/repair disintegrating infrastructure than during an economic slowdown? the benefits besides putting people to work are the availability of manpower/equipment and lower construction material costs. as a rule i'm against deficit financing, but in the case of repairs that have to be made we may as well do it now.
