We already knew that. You already told us that you are cheap. Providing _enough_ to eliminate economic hardship as a reason certainly wouldn't satisfy your need to punish 'dirty girls', either.

Who you are is irrelevant because _you_ are irrelevant. Dobbin fully understands your unwillingness to identify yourself. You see, it's dangerous to do so, particularly when you are taking an inflamatory position- a position that offends folks deeply. There are nutbars out there who really are a threat. When you are just playing around, anonymity is probably a good plan. Why take the risk for something unimportant, that you have no intention of following up? However, the degree to which you are willing to allow yourself to be known is also a good gauge of your commitment, and consequently, your credibility. When you truly care, you don't just write on the wall and sneak away before anyone sees you... You stand up, let folks know who you are and that you won't back down. You act, and let yourself be known to act. I'm anonymous here, too, in no small part because I've been credibly threatened for publicly acting on my opinions before. It's not pleasant, and challenges the courage of ones convictions. I won't face that again for the sake of cheap babbling points in some pissant internet forum, just to quell some anonymous blowhard. The pseudonym suffices to address an irrelevancy. However, if you ever became anything like the threat you think you are- if you publicly stood your ground, and seemed to actually be making ground, you'd know me, too, soon enough.

Therapeutic abortion does not. The question of which is physically safer for a woman is very well established. Your case is not made stronger by misrepresentation.

Folks can be guaranteed to react strongly to it, though, every single time. Even if it is a guaranteed road to opposition status for the Conservatives, it is always disconcerting when folks speak of taking a vote on it for the same reason that say... blacks would find it disconcerting to have a vote on enforced segregation, or Catholics would find it disconcerting if to hear somone suggest stripping Christians of their citizenship. possible mother death.... Risk of death is inherent to pregnancy/childbirth. Maternal mortality rate in Canada is about 6/100,000 , even with relatively free access to abortion. Consequently, I must ask how much risk? How likely must we be to die before we are allowed to intervene in our own defense? The morbidity rate is about 1/250. Would you allow us to protect ourselves from injury short of death-- things like permanent fecal incontinence, heart and kidney damage, stroke-- and so on? Or is that just the price we are expected to pay for daring to have sex? Do serious genetic or in-utero damage to the fetus come into play at all? If, for instance a woman is gestating an infant that will live to term, but die immediately upon birth, must she continue the gestation?

.... you can't be saying that it should be decided by a woman and her doctor (just the way it is now)... Panels of doctors (attending +2) is the law that was struck down to leave us where we are now. The only real difference was the indignity, abnd the time consumed organizing the rubber stamp.

I should have expected a thoughtless reply. The question of 'who' has crippled many an anti-abortion scheme. The difficulty of convening decision-makers slows the process, and no one credible wants the job.... And you, sir, would be an unacceptable adjudicator.

Who defines 'direct danger', and who adjudicates it? (Even an easy, short, problem-free delivery is a substantial personal assault.... but the hazard extends as far as maternal death....)

...just 'cause this whole conversation is making me crazy... only about a third of therapeutic abortions in Canada are performed on teen mothers; nearly half of aborting mothers already have a child or dhildren.
