  1. Jack, even if you're right, what the hell does that have to do with the price of beer?

Do you seriously think all those rural folks are gonna blame Samuels and Stronach? Do they even know who those guys are?

Come into the real world, my friend! They will be mad at Dalton - and you know it!

If that's the case, then those rural voters are as stupid as the rural voters who keep electing the likes of Tim Hudak in Niagara/West Glanbrook...

  2. They should keep Kevin O'Leary on just as a reminder to all of us just what type of people are running and operating on Wall Street and Bay Street. Greedy heartless ruthless dirtbags.

Didn't you know that unions are the "cancer' that's killing the economy??

It's not the profiteering, money grubbing Capitalists who want even more unfettering of Capitalism...It's the unions of the world who are a (correct) check on the unfettered "free" market who are the problem...

  3. Again your focus is in the wrong place. You are ranting and raving about wages, and unions but wages have been more or less stagnant for decades. Whats changed is the denomination those wages are paid in.

This is entirely a macro-economic / monetary phenomenon. And responding to this by trying to bust unions or drive down wages in certain sectors is a gigantic mistake, because all you do is create an imbalance in our domestic economy. Workers whos wages have been targetted for reduction will no longer be able to afford to buy services from workers who havent. This is why the cost of things like healthcare and college tuition are outpacing inflation by such a big margin.

If we want to have a thriving export economy and manufacturing economy you need to address the underlying reason we arent competitive, and you need to address it across the board. The value of our dollar is simply too high for us to compete.

What I'm hearing here is that issues of globalization seem to be the problem ,as it relates to floating currency...And conservatives should focus on those things instead of using this as an opportunity to go off on an ideological bent about busting unions??

  4. Not at all! The tards assembling autos in Canada could not opperate a CNC machine nore figure out a thou vs a micron! I KNOW we don't assemble by hand in Canada, we souldnt figure "team work" out! But the costs, hour vs hour would make a "canadian ferarri" about 5 meg dollars!!! Read with me slowly here....

AND!!!! I can tell your the director of QA at Toyota in Cambridge makes MORE than the director of QA in the Ford Oakville plant! By about 11,000 dollars... I ride motorcycles with both of them.. I agree hard to substantiate but.. Meet us at the ride for sight this weekend.. I will even buy you a beer..

Jama employees actually do make more (over the pasy 7 years) given profit sharing.. I'm envious of profit sharing actually..

    Riiiight..All unionized workers are "'tards"...

I'm sure you've heared of "kaizan" work cells...We do this in the rail car industry...

You do know that Warren Buffett invested over a billion dollars into BNSF about a year and a half ago, right?

Are we all simply "'tards" in your free market nirvana???

And how 'bout those forced 60 hour work weeks at non union Toyota and Hinda in Ontario??

Wonder why there's been a few recalls of Toyoats products recently?

  5. All youre really compared when you compare real labor is exchange rates, and the Canadian dollar follows the price of oil as shown here...

So in 2002 your numbers would have been completely different. We could make that ferrari for less than Italy.

Its not that unions have bargained for a large increase in wages since 2002 that has changed. Its simply that our dollar is rising in value because mostly because of oil prices.

    Oh no!!!

You aren't pitting one region against another are you??

    MARXIST!!!

  6. Oh no sir... Please let me educate you...

On the hourly wage to hand craft a Ferrari Enzo (no longer made but I'm using 2003 numbers). It cost 357,000 dollars to make an enzo LABOR only...

If that car was made, now follow me here, In Canada,,,, LABOUR OnLY would be 5,720,000.00....its Very simple math.... Remeadial math....

I must say that the cost of labor in italy is "reasonable" given the cost of the car at 1,1500,000... But how could they lose almost 4 meg in canada?

I'm a realist... Numbers work... I have NO idea where your head is at....

Simple... Do the math.... Or I can suggest a tutor..

    Wait a minute...

Are you suggesting that everythin g that comes off a Big 3 assembly line is handmade???

And you haven't aswered the question that I asked about why is the labour at JAMA Ontario assembly plants similar (slightly less) than Big 3 asembly plants in the same province??

    Enquiring minds want to know??

Thrill us with your labour market acumen,kiddo...

    By the way...It's "remedial"...

  7. Ohhh no sir.. I would NEVER assume that. But when the CBC says June 1st... I just expected june 1st.. This past June first.. This year of our lord... Not the other june 1st... June 1st... As in this one.... Not the next... Ummm seems there is something fish here... Or maybe just fishy in the "next june 1st"...

Are you suggesting the CBC ( a canadian taxpayer funded SERVICE) would screw over the taxpayer). THAT is the eppitomy of non-transparency.... What would you like to chosse?

    I choose anything over SunTV...

  8. Then why didn't you say that? Instead, you asserted that a Ferrari is cheaper to make, in terms of labour costs, than a Chrysler. Which is absurd.

Yes, they make less in Italy than Canada. I'm guessing labour costs in general are less in Italy.

Buffoon? Why the personal attacks. Makes you look petty.

He's an O'Learyite....Prepare for the free market sycophancy along with the unsubstantiated cheap shots....

  9. EGYPT

The big one. First round results.

    Morsy - 24.78% - Conservative / Muslim Brotherhood

Shafik - 23.66% - Part of former Administration

These two are going to the second round.

    Sabahi - 20.72% - Left wing

    Fotouh - 17.47% - Former Muslim Brotherhood

Moussa - 11.13% - Part of the former Administration

    Predicting the second round

Morsy should pick up Fotouh's votes.

Shafik should pick up Moussa's votes

    Morsy - 42.25%

    Shafik - 34.79%

I can not see many people voting for small parties going for a candidate of the old administration.

    Morsy - 44.48%

    Shafik - 34.79%

The old adminisration was sort of left leaning in a way, so I could see left-wingers streaming over there.

    Shafik - 45.51%

    Morsy - 44.48%

    Remain - 10.00%

Some however would likely oppose a Shafik victory

    Shafik - 45.51%

    Morsy - 45.51%

    Remain - 8.97%

    The remainder would likely split

    Shafik - 50.00%

    Morsy - 50.00%

So in the end, I have no clue who the hell is going to win.

This Egyptian business has gotten quite interesting,if not for all the wrong reasons...It seems the Egyptian Supreme? Court has basically become the apparatchiks of the Egyptian military and DISALLOWED the democratic voice (such that it is) of the Egyptian people and revoked the results of the recent election of the Muslim Brotherhood ( with alot of help from the Islamofascist Selafists) in favour of....

    Wait for it....

    The Egyptian military.....

Meet the new boss....Same as the old boss.....

  10. Hi jack, your a swell guy and a wealth of "education"

Would you like to comment on the topic or just make smiley faces?

I'm asking for transparency and openness from my federally funded CBC and why this change. Care to comment or ..... Make smileys?

How 'bout this,kiddo...And I'll school you again on things like Agency Shop when necessary...Perhaps the season has not ended and when it's done...POOF!!...Kelley's gone and it's Kevin O'Leary forever!!!!

    Oh goodie....

  11. Ohh that's very easy... Cuz I like to look at both perspective... I'm what you would call "open minded".... Google it... Its liberating!

Now why is Mark kelly still on?

O'leary was not mentioned in the cuts... But Mark was! I wonder why he is still on? Do you think the CBC found ineficiencies?

Suuuuurrreeee you're whay YOU call "open minded"...

    :lol::lol:

Milton Friedman thanks you for your support...

  12. Was the CBC fudging the cuts and where they were happening? Did they try and make this a talking point? He was supposed to be gone the 1st of this month. Did they find ineficiencies internally? Did they make cuts in waste to keep him in play? This was a makor talking point.. Why is he still on?

"Among the more high-profile casualties include Dispatches, which is hosted by Rick MacInnes-Rae, and the television news affair show Connect, which is hosted by Mark Kelley. Both will be cancelled as of June 1st"

    Please... Discuss!

Your boy...The free marketeering buffoon,Kevin O'Leary is still on...

    What's your point??

Why aren't you watching the riveting programming on SunTV??

  13. On the other end of the spectrum his name is mud in Rural Ontario because of the Slots at the Racetrack problem. Say what you will about how gaming should support horse racing, it employs a lot of people.

Fort Erie will be decimated once the racetrack there closes. The tracks in Sarnia, Windsor and Kawartha are set to close. And that's just the start. Lots of people work there and they won't be voting Liberal.

Why did I know you would bring this up?

(By the way,I'm no fan of McGuinty...)

Have you asked your friends why Ernie Samuels and Frank Stronach haven't "ponied up" and put thier money were their mouth is vis a vis the horse racing industry???

I mean,if thgey love it so much and the horse racing industry is so concerned about the job losses, they should be pumping some of thier untold millions into "the sport of kings" to prop it up,right?

Or is the horse racing industry essentially dying/dead and requires gov't sanctioned gambling to subsidize it to survive?

  14. The federal Liberal Party of Canada is officially dead.

Justin's question is: do I die with the Liberals, or join the federal NDP and defeat Harper.

    ----

Justin's father was once a CCFer. He only joined with Pearson because the federal Liberals, at the time, offered a route to power.

1.I think you're right...The Liberal Party of Canada is on life support and the plug is about to be pulled...And I think you're right that Justin Trudeau's best bet, assuming he wants a long political career, would be to get as far away from the rotting carcass that is the federal Liberal party, the Mulcair version of the federal NDP is probably his best option...

2.The current version of the NDP is looking alot more like the Trudeau Liberal party of the late '60's and through the '70's than anything the Liberal's have4 have looked like in the last 15 to 20 years...And it's true that one of the reasons Pierre Trudeau went with the Liberal party was because the CCF/NDP of the time wasn't electable with mainstream Canadians...

  15. Of course it is. Dutch Disease has made Canada an expensive place to manufacture anything. Welcome to Harpers country where we trade manufacturing jobs for oil jobs then when oil drops below 70 dollars a barrel no one works.

And to "compete",the free marketeers are proposing an RTW "individual workers paradise" to rectify the situation...

  16. LOL. You don't even seem to know what you claimed! They make less money per hour at a Ferrari plant, that is true. But you claim that labour costs to make a Ferrari are cheaper than the labour costs to make a Chrysler. Not true at all. And not backed up by your cut/paste job. A Ferrari would take a lot more labour than a Chrysler and would cost a lot more to make despite labour being cheaper in Italy.

And seeing as Ferrari is no longer Enzo's company but a subsidiary of FIAT,and is underwritten by that corporation...

    The comparison is utterly ridiculous...

As an aside,3 different union locals of metalworkers under one roof...Interesting...

  17. Sure can Jack!!! Believe it or not, Many people hate unions and would not consider working under thier ham-fisted rule. At the Japanese companies, they pay the workers fairly, the compensate and reward on performance, they reward efficiencies with GREAT bonuses, they offer profit sharring (HUGE inscentive in the industrialized world) and treat the employees like gold.

Did i get that Jack? Did that help your understanding?

    Yeah....

Those forced 60 hour work weeks at Toyota in Woodstock and Honda in Alliston are "treating thier employees like gold"...

(Check out labour legislation in Ontario vis a vis overtime regulations at non-union facilities if you don't believe me...)

Anyway...No...You didn't get it and you didn't help at all...

    Soooo....Let's try this one again...

Why do you think wages and benny plans at JAMA facilities in Ontario are similar (if not slightly less) than Big 3 facilities???

  18. Incorrecto! JAMA (Japanese Auto Manufacturers Assoc) does not even have the "big 3" on the Radar for competition. And JAMA now emplys MORE that the CAW controls in membership!

    Spectacular!!!

And this relates to the similar wage structures between Big 3 plants and JAMA plants how?

In otherwords,to attract potential employees, one must try to have a wage and benny plan close to other manufacturing facilities in the same industry...

Could you explain that obvious relationship to me?
