I'd say this deficit budget is a reflection of the chronic shortsightedness of the Conservative party. And people here blame the policy of letting anyone into the party thereby diluting the proper conservative element? For god sakes the Conservative party comprised of conservatives made it as easy as slapping down $5 and voting to be part of the party. Quit blaming others for the Conservative's shortcomings, they've been in power since '71. You figure 30-odd years of governing and two busts would have taught them something.

Whoa! I wasn't criticizing the economics of the whole thing, I didn't even hear the whole budget, I'm just shocked at the ideological 180 that the Conservatives have taken. Frankly, I feel we were in an economic bubble and it was due to burst. Most people were spending beyond thier budget and this is the result. I don't have the answer on how to solve this other than let the dead hit the ground and everyone balance thier own household budget and make the best of the situation. Perhaps taking the focus of the manufacturing industry from cars to windmills and solar panels. I dunno.

Anyone else notice that? Holy crap this budget is a turn around from the ideology the Conservatives have espoused in the past. Money for housing? Reduced income tax for folks under 80k a year! Man, I have a feeling the conservatives would sell their mothers to get into power. Under Harper they've always been bullies and and had the 'if you aren't with me, we'll crush you' mentality. I wonder how long this will last. It's a little spooky. At least when the Conservatives wore their ideology on their sleeves you knew where they stood. Now, they could turn at any moment, I suppose, when the time is right, they'll strike. Be afraid, be very afraid. Next they'll be giving single mothers and the homeless free housing.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing alot of Harpie in commercials between now and Xmas. Not sure if he can block the coalition come Jan and call an election, because if he can that'll be what will occur. If not, then Vive la Coalition! (in January).

Good lord If you call criticizing Harper's hair a personal attack, then man, get out of the playground. Secondly, this is a private citizen, not a political leader or a political party that is making this so-called attack. Hell, I've never seen the Liberals or NDP get animated birds to crap on other political leaders, nor have I seen them make fun of physical disablities like the Conservatives have. In fact, the few times the Liberals have made gaffs like that, they've dropped the candidate like a hot potato. The Conservatives, on the other hand take a more lighthanded approach. They simply brush it off or apologize and tell everyone to move on. I still recall that ad by the conservatives where they did a slow motion close up of Chretien's face and essentially said 'do you want a guy who looks like this leading this country?'. I'd laugh at how juvenile they are, if this was the schoolyard. Now I just shake my head and hope that people smarten up and move on. m
