Well i for one support Stephen Harper...This Country has been to soft on crime including young offenders who literally get away with murder we need to be more like Texas!! commit a serious crime down there and see what happens to ya!! and the military hasn t been given decent equipment under the Liberals for way too long and its time for a full pledged Tory Goverment! In a world full of terrorists trying to destroy the west and a crime rate going through the roof there is no place for a Liberal Goverment!!...With any luck Harper will scrap the idiotic gun registry..under the Libs the only people who should have a gun is the bad guys...taking guns from responible gun owners makes no sense...its time to make this country strong Militarily..Justice System..and for gods sake change the stupid gun control laws they don t work anyway, Toronto is proof of that!!... let decent people arm themselves that alone will reduce crime, would you do a home invasion when you know most of the community is armed??.... probably not! Forunately Nato weapons and Russian systems have always been used against each other through other countries...the war in Vietnam ....Russians in Afghanistan...etc....but i was reading the news online and a link i found lead me to this site (below)...not sure how accurate it is but it is very alarming some points made regarding Nato's Nuclear Doctrine for the future...which makes any contfrontation between Nato and Russia Directly best avoided at all cost! http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?con...va&aid=8048

I was looking at pics of a t-72 and the t-90.......and at least from the outside they look pretty much alike! Maybe the inside are different.

Actually Nato does have the better weapon systems...but this really wouldn t matter because once Nato started defeating Russia Conventionally ....Russia would turn very quickly to its Nuclear Arsenal forcing Nato to do the same.................i used to shake my head when i heard people say a few years back "Russia is broke and no longer a threat"......they still had/have the largest Nuclear Arsenal on the planet broke or not...i would say that makes them a threat!................Unfortunately becauce of this reason Nato is extremely limited to what it can do to protect Nations like Georgia....i imagine this was a major reason for Nato not allowing Georgia membership in the past its simply to risky and the world just isn t prepared to go to ww3 over former Soviet block countries.....Nato would have been obligated to Defend Georgia in the recent row if they belonged to Nato....scarey stuff really!

Good Point! Syria and Iran have recently been pretty cozy with Russia.....i agree that the USA will never have much success in Iraq or Afghanistan....those countries have known war for so long they no nothing else but.

Russia will always be a threat....they see the west as the enemy and a threat to their way of life....Nobody intends to attack Russia..surely the Russians must know that Nato has zero interest in attacking them unless self defence ....the Russsians as well as Nato countries face a similiar threat together and that is Islamic Radicals! its to bad they don t put their energies in destroying terrorists and less time in mistrusting each other!

Yes i have seen some footage of the barrel flexing...and the range isn t very accurate over a hundred yards but i think the Russians updated their forces with a newer verion called the AK-74 which i think is a lot more accurate...the main thing with these rifles is they are relatively easily maintained in the field...i watched a show on the history channel and it showed Afghan soldiers simply running a thin rope soaked in oil through the barrel and they were good to go!.....The Israeli's have developed a rifle that can shoot around corners...pretty cool stuff!

Well there is one piece of Russian equipment that has stood the test of time...and that is the good old AK-47 you got to hand it to the Russians this rifle is very good and very tough...you can run the thing over with a truck.. drag it through mud pick it up and fire it without hesitation!! This weapon is more popular today with many countries than ever!

The U.S. and Russia will never confront each other in any serious matter! War between the U.S. and Russia will always be fought through other countries such as Vietnam...or in todays case Iran or maybe Syria....both the U.S. and Russia have thousands of Nukes more than enough to kill everyone on the planet many times over....neither side will ever have enough of an advantage to attack the other without commiting suicide...the U.S. has actually a better chance of launching a first strike because of its stealth technology but this would never happen unless some unforseenable mishap or misunderstanding occured ,the Russian have old tech the TU-95'S make so much noise that U.S. submarines can actually hear them while submerged....lol....i think more scarey is the islamic terrorist groups getting hold of a Nuke! those animals will have no misgivings about using such weapons!

The Russians now are considering putting Nukes in Syria to counter the U.S. -Poland deal................what is wrong with the Russians? 10 missiles are no threat to them at all...they have thousands of Nukes and would overpower any missile shield and Poland even invited the Russians to inspect them!...the Bear will always be the enemy to the west that is plain obvious...the U.S. might as well accept this and act accordingly!

I agree that the Russians aren't that stupid...but at a time of such high tension such talk is not helpful and can only lead us back into a another cold war situation.

Russia is threatening to Launch a Nuclear Strike on Poland over the U.S. missile deal.....i guess the Russians forget that the U.S.A has as many Nukes if not more than they do! and many of the U.S. weapons are Submarine based (SLCM) and are impossible to knock out...Russia would be taken out minutes after launching any such strike...so threats of this nature seem pointless unless they are bent on suicide!
