  1. New numbers for third quarter are in: unbelievable! GDP growth jumps to 7.2% in Q3, fastest in nearly 20 years. All the info is here: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,101680,00.html Read em and weep Dems
  2. Those are some great posts Craig. Purchasing Power Parity is the only true measure for cost of living comparisons between different regions, nationally or internationally. One thing I did find interesting about the long list in the UN study: all of them are democratic republics while none of the states listed include aristocracies, communist regimes (except China, although Hong Kong is included), Monarchies, Islamic states, or any other form of dictatorship. There is a direct correlation between liberty and economic prosperity.
  3. Bushmustgo, I feel for ya buddy. I'm the only conservative amongst all the paranoid delusional communists over at the Noam Chomsky forum. Likewise, I have to expend a considerably greater amount of effort to debate those fellows over there. And because there are so many eloquent voices towing my line here, I feel it is my right the express my latent juvenility, so... GO BUSH
  4. Well get ready folks, we're going for a ride: "GDP growth jumps to 7.2% in third quarter 2003, biggest increase in nearly 20 years" News of that and other out- of-control economic indicators here. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,101680,00.html Can anyone say "tax cuts"? bye bye deficit.
  5. I don't think anyone suggests disolving the UN, after all they do still serve a role in the global community. It's just that the organization's role is far less significant and gradiose than it's members fantisize. The United States is trying to provide leadership to the rest of the world, leadership that is bocked at by the international community for reasons of pride, ego, and fading memories of their once great empires. My perspecticve is that the United States is more or less benevolent toward the rest of the world ans as long as other nations are willing to live in peace, so are we. Unfortunately, this is not the case as we are forced to defend ourselves from groups and nations who wish our destruction on the basis of cultural and religious differences.
  6. Maybe my solution is oversimplified but I think Isreal should dismantle settlements in the West Bank and Gaza and then build an impenitrable wall around Isreal proper. If you were swiming in an ocean surrounded by sharks, wouldn't you want a diving cage. It would be a good idea to keep your arms inside that cage as well.
  7. I believe the UN more closely resembles the Leauge of Nations created after WW2 to function as a debating society. An organization that cannot or will not enforce its own resolutions is nothing more than this. The only remaining capacity in which the UN remains useful is providing humanitarian assitance.
  8. Oh for Christ sake, just because there is an insugency in Iraq doesn't mean there is any real similarity to Vietnam. The primary difference here is that, unlike vietnam, there has been a regime change in Iraq. The resistence is just the result of a few desperate hold overs from the previous regime. There is no organized millitary capability. The best the insurgents can hope for is to test American and Iraqi fortitude by killing a few US soldiers here and there and blowing up innocent Red Cross and UN employees. Their efforts will ultimately not prevent progress from being achieved. Sorry to disappoint you.
  9. Well, I don't know about all that nonsense. Those are some really good liberal slogans though. But there is a buck to be made if you can get your hands on Chinese Yaun before it begins to float. Thats estimated to happen anytime between now and 2006, when the PRC adopts WTO rules.
  10. Trade practices do influence our economy, however those effects are mostly neglagent considering the level of impact domestic spending and taxation have on the budget. Besides, a moderate budget deficit is really no big deal anyway. History has never shown a correlation between deficits and inflation or rising interest rates.
  11. I thought we were talking about domestic budget deficits. Trade deficits/surpluses are a completely different animal.
  12. Just as the Nazis blamed the jews for Germany's problems is the 1930's, Muslims are doing the same thing today. In fact, as every rational thinking person knows, the Jews have very little to do with the instability in Muslim societies throughout the world. A vast majority of armed conflict occuring in the world today is a result of Muslims who can't get along with their neighbors. (i.e. Africa, Chechnya, Kahmir, Palistine etc.) Bin laden is really just "Hitler in a Headscarf".
  13. All this talk about the worst economic recovery since Herbert Hoover is just liberal hysteria. And for those who claim that the U.S. federal budget deficit is by far the biggest in history. It could not be farther from the truth. As a percentage of GDP, the deficit is half of what it was in the 80's. Remember that you cannot directly compare dollars in 1980 with dollars in 2003 because the economy is 10 times bigger now then it was back then. That reality, liberals, not spin. The best part of all of this is when Dems will be eating crow when the Dow rises above 10,000 in time for the 2004 election.
  14. I agree, this kind of pandering should be reserved for Democrats.
  15. You all speak as if you know Rush Limbaugh or listen to him on the radio regularly. I'd say from the sound of it, all you people know of Rush is what you're told by those on the left who absolutely despise his influence. By the way, Rush never said McNabb sucks because he's black or any other RACIST statement. He did make a RACIAL statement by saying that McNabb is celebrated and given more credit that he deserves because the media wishes to see a black quarterback succeed. It was more a commentary about the media than it was about McNabb. And besides, he was right. All you have to do is look at the stats. As quarterback, he is ranked 31 out of 33 in the leauge in passing yards. While his defense on the othed hand is ranked in the top 5. It pretty clear that this guy is mediocre at best. Liberals in this country have lowered the level of discourse so far that they are willling to completely destroy people they don't agree with. Liberals are always preaching tolerence while at the same time using dispicable tactics to silence those they disagree with at any cost. You Democrats today are a new breed. The Robert Kennedy's, FDRs, and Scoop Jacksons have got to be rolling in their graves.
