I agree partially Ringo. I differ only in that we shouldnt destroy NAFTA, we should reform it. The recent break down of the WTO (World Trade Order) is only a sign of whats to come unless there is some change. Mexico while being a drag on our trade agreement, is developing. If there was a seperate system to help them evolve into a more established country they could, in turn, strengthen North America. NAFTA should exclude Mexico, but the US should pick up a new sytem to aid them

As i stated the only argument is in campaign finance. Sire of course, the one with the flashy ads may get the vote. If we only elect the rich as you say, its not representative. The difference is in the interpretation of the definition of plutocracy. Just because they use money to get elected doesnt mean that theyre using wealth to get bills passed. Thats the difference. Lets not get into an argument about the shadiness and underhandiness of American government. Its foolish to believe that corruption is running rampant and that the Senators are paying off Officer McIrish to cover themselves. Just because they have wealth doesnt mean it plays any part in their governmental decisions or actions. Its a salary. An incredibly to high one in my opinion. Researching a system doesnt mean you know anything. I could research how to hit a baseball 450 ft but until i get out and practice, it wont happen. Oddly enough, its in the footing. But anyways... By the way are you Canadian or American?

Please welcome Senator "Boss" Tweed...? I disaggree with America being defined as a " representative plutocracy." There is no such thing as a representative plutocracy. Either its controlled by the wealthy or its representatve (republic). Plutocracy-controled by the wealthy Representative-controlled by the masses It cant be a combination of the two. The majority of americans are not wealthy. Indeed, our senators are rich, but its only a plutocracy if they use this money to CONTROL THE GOVERNMENT, more spicifically in bribes. We dont elect the wealthy. We elect whom we feel is the best, for the most part. If you research the true meaning of a plutocracy it goes back to Roman senators who became men of power because of their wealth. The one possible example of ths would be campaign finance. We may not be the most honest society around, but this isnt the 1860s and Tammany Hall isnt using its vast wealth to push along bills. America may have been a plutocracy in the past, but not today. The issue of their wealth is in HOW they use it. But thats MY humble opinion as an AMERICAN who participates in this system.

Religion In Public Schools

Nove, please follow me here and try and see the difference. I said plain and simple America makes the rules. That would be the might. No where in the post did i say the this power made them correct in anything. In fact, as i already stated, i disaggree constantly. You misquoted me and i was making that distinct difference. They make the rules yes? Than that means that they have a distinct view or sight of the game no matter how good or bad the game they play is. One say they make the rules and therefore are justified. MINE says the make the rules and can see how the game is played. Re-read the last few pages. Just wanted to come accross as i intended. -

Nova. "Do you actaully believe that 'might makes right?'" Point. You said i believed in might is right and that is incorrect. End Point. -
I also dont know how helpful this is, but im all about furthering discussion, so im here to provide you with valuable info. ->Shell oil has decreased its gas venting during oil production by over 13% which is a truly exraordinary figure in and of itself. ->Also their GHG (Global warming admissions) are down over 5%, which is good because whether gloabal warming happens or not is still in debate. ->One of the most stunning figures is that the Flaring is reduced by over 22%. They have begun to usse the gas as a form of power instead of just burning it off into the environment. ->Finally, their spills are 2/3rds less than they were 6 years ago. So, take what you will from this, but Shell seems to be making drastic improvements. Especially in comparisson to other major oil companies. They wont save the environment, but theyre trying. All the facts can be checked here: Shell

Please forgive me. I am not a Canadian so i dont know how your law is set up. Do the churches not have secial priveleges in the area of freedom of speech? It will actually be illegal to read parts of the BIBLE!? Any help for the sheltered young american would be MUCH appreciated. We have laws in place against hate in any form (including sexual oriention), but its basically null and void unless theres an abondance of it or its followed by physical actions. I myself am not a pervayor of this but the phrase "That's gay" is almost commonplace in America. So i dont know how well it would be pulled off in Canada. Thanks for the input.

"After what they say was an exhaustive investigation, the Defense Minister of France said today that Osama bin Laden is either still in hiding in Afghanistan, he may have escaped to Pakistan, or he may be dead. Hey, France, thanks a lot. We'll take it from here. Hard to believe they were invaded twice." - Jay Leno Check out the quotes and jokes You'll get a laugh im sure

Affirmative Discrimination and Racism
Luigi71585 replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I'll tell you what i took from this information. The overall work force is sickeningly closer than the numbers certain libs have been shoving down our throats. Id like to see some cold hard proof (like ive provided here) about this 90% ive been hearing about? Also, if youll take a look at the managerial numbers you'll see what we all knew was true. Whites are the majority. But not at the staggering amount weve been told in the last few posts of this thread. I think someones been droppin their pants and whatever falls out theyve been posting as factual numbers. Any other research is much appreciated as I am here to find the truth. -

I'm sick of this bickering about who has correct facts and all. So I followed my own advice and did some research. Lets make this a debate shall we? Here are some figures as reported by the EEOC (The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) on employeement rates from the 2000 census. 25,707,390 - Number of all minorities employeed in US 31,141,848 - Number of "whites" employeed in the US 1,359,702 - Number ofminorities in managerial positions 4,041,205 - Number of "whites" in mangerial positions Heres the link if my facts are questioned for whatever reason: EEOC 2000 Census Stats -

Luigi71585 replied to Craig Read's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Wow, i have actually been informed. Thank you fastned. See this is why i love forums. So when was this catch and release program implicated? What exactly are the restrictions and such? Why was it implicated? Is it a diversity thing? Is Canada reacghing out to those that the US is currently too afraid to accept? Thanks again -

Passport And Biometrics Soon Mandatory
Luigi71585 replied to Craig Read's topic in Canada / United States Relations
As an American citizen, probably the last worry i have is a radical group of Canadians crossing the border. No offense. I think a boimetrics defense shield would be better suited for travelers from eurasia. I love Canadians! I do think the biometrics can be of some use, but not until the technology if further developed and can be spread to places of departure so we dont have a net of paranoia within the country. Regardless, i dont feel this is intrusive to us Americans. They dont require our genetic data to stay here. Its no problem for us yet. I would like to stay as far away from the mark of the beast as i can though. As an american im not impeaded any, so my sentiments are drastically less important than yours. I dont have major saftey fears because i know that were protected as well as we can be, but i severly doubt the threat is from our friendly neighbors up north. -

Luigi71585 replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Whats with the name calling and personal cracks? Its difference of opinion. Haha. Anyways, on to the point. The main goal that is being discussed here is equality neh? I mean if America had equality this forum wouldnt be here. Oh and by the way, Craig never said America WAS equal, he said it is what is NECESSARY. The simple fact of the matter is the way to promote equality is not by giving a minority special priveliges, its by making the RACES EQUAL. These are not racist comments because thats the last thing anyone here wants. This is a different plan being pushed forward. Think about it. -
Hans Blix Criticizes Bush And Blair....
Luigi71585 replied to Bushmustgo's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Although I am totally for peace, one point seems to be missing from this discussion. This is the fact that now our inspectors have virtually free-reign of the country. When they go to inspect a bunker, they know that whatever was in there last week will still be there. Now we are no longer trying to stay one step ahead of Saddams "missle movers." Whether or not war was the way to get there, its what we have now. Lets see how it turns out. -

That was an eloquesnt post Cameron. It was so nice it was almost undeabtable. I also wish to so eloquently express my views. My view as a quasi-believer (trust me i have more battles in me than you could care to know) is that religion should not be forced or even mentioned in school. I do, however, support what is now becoming more commonplace in conservative states: a moment of silence. This brief 60 second period is allocated at a convinient time, say after morning annoucements or whathaveyou, where a person can do whatevr they want as long is it is non-distracting. This allows believer a time of quiet prayer and non-believers can sit, read, meditate, or do yoga for all anyone cares. This is the only compromise i have found that anyone agrees with. What are your views on this Cam? What is ervyones views? Is there anyone else in here that supports this? -
U.s. Gave Saddam Wmd In The 80's
Luigi71585 replied to Bushmustgo's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
America has made itself a history of setting themselves up for future problems. I.E. Setting up Castro which led to a dictatorship that we now ban. Also, more obviously the discussion of this forum: giving WMD to Iraq. Does anyone have a theory on this? Id like to get some input. -
That is awesome FastNed. Ive been searching for a forum with these credentials. I just wanted to extend my gratitude because i had to flee the last forum due to childish posts that were becoming personal cracks instead of a rational debate/discussion on the issues. Once again, thanks to the man in charge.

Nova, youre misrepresenting my issue. I never said that the decisions America makes were the correct or just ones. I disagree with many of the decisions, ie the enormous war budget thats being pushed forward. The plain and simple fact is that America controls the worlds economic and for the time being political importance. i dont understand how this point can even be argued. We have access to more information than any other country. My point was that the smaller, radical, theocratic nations keep their people in the dark as to the ways of the world and that is why their is so much terrorism and anti-americanism (not to mention our own people trashing it at every turn). Anyhow, thanks for the welcome FastNed. Glad to be here. Oh and also i wish to point out that im here to debate not argue and so far am enjoying the respect you give others even with different (or incorrect) points. Oh and how many people here are actually Canadian? -
Affirmative Discrimination and Racism
Luigi71585 replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I am nothing if not a peaceful person. I support equality completely. My gripe is that rights for all minorites, not JUST African-Americans, dont allow for equally between races. When one group has more than another, its not right. As for the employment rate, yes more whites are highered. That wasnt the debate. Although this isnt 1856 in post-civil war america by the way. If thats the debate then were is AA for women? They are fewer women higher but what support do you give them? None. Yes, the majority hiring and being hired are white. THE MAJORITY OF CITIZENS ARE WHITE! Seems to make sense doesnt it. Also, too encourage proper debate and not petty argument, please post your information about the employment rate. -

Fools. If you dont know whats next how can you risk it? I say better to place faith in something that MAY be true than in nothing at all. I may be wrong in my beliefs but at least i have one. Destruction is a waste of a life. Try believing in something regardless of what it is. Your soul may be at risk regrdless of what you believe. Also, all governments do not have a scewed view of the world. Unarguably America is a super power and those with power make the rules. Those who make the rules know them. Therefore the know how the world works and arent kept in the dark about things. -

Tell me, what is your stand on scholarships being provided to minorities? This is AA at its most disclosed and possibly most attrocious. The decision to provide extra money based on skin color is reverse racism. I fully support the taking of the scholarships as long as they are provided, but i do not understand the reasonning behind it. Many will claim that it helps integrate races into universities. This is foolish thinking. Although not perfect, Americas class system is becoming more and more balanced racially. I'll tell you this, I wanna see some scholarships out there for the short, the "overweight," and the vision impared because these are 3 examples of people who are discriminated against as much as anybody. Don't misconstrew this. I am totally anti-racism. I can truly say i respect all peoples equally, but if the true goal is to be equal, then why are we seperating people on the basis of race? The only difference is that this is beneficial. A right cant erase a wrong. So lets move on. What do you all think? -

I think it is foolish of us to believe that a theocratic government is ideal in any situation. Proper religous leadership is ideal, but every facet of life under theocratic control is a rediculous concept in its entierty. Just look at the peoples we are fighting in this war on terrorism. Governments that are still controlled by their religion have scewed views of the world which, in my humble, all be it correct, opinion is ignorant. Even the Hebrews used scouts while on the Exodus. They didnt soley rely on God to tell them what was happening. They found out. Theocracy leads to an improper use of a region/countries resources for religous gain. A better system too gain a religous perspective on modern polotics is a strong/highly religous leader backed by many religous followers, but not governed in his decisions towards different nations/religions. I give you the classic Jihad. These people are a minority of religous fanatics (shi'ite muslims) and they believe they should attack other religions and the countries that back them because of thei RELIGOUs and POLITICAL situations. The VAST majority of Iran is composed of Shi'ites and you suggest we should follow their lead? Yeah, good call man. ONCE AGAIN I PUSH FOR INTELLIGENT COMMENST BACKED BY RESEARCH -

AND ANOTHER THING FOR THE RECORD: Speration of church and state was originally drafted to keep the GOVERNMENT out of the CHURCH, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! Take a second and do some research before posting your inane ignorant comments. America was founded on the basis of religious freedom due to the persecution of the Church of England. We wanted to be free to practice whatever we wanted and to have NO GOVERNMENT MANDATED NATIONAL RELIGION. Hence the reason for this standard. Read a book and the try and argue this point. -
Religion In Public Schools
Luigi71585 replied to Democracy of Steve's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Do any of you anti-religious liberal imperalists read what the sane reasoners write!? No one here is advocating the forced intake of religion in the schools because, as we all know, when you force something, it is regurgitated. We are on the other hand, advocating the allowance and tollerance of those who choose to practice their religion openly. Give them a second of time to make a point or pray quietly without disturbing others. If high schools have enough time to blow on pep rally's and mantinees for their crappy theatres, surely on minute a day can be allowed for someone to practice their belief. And too all this non-sense about religion being only in the mind of the believer: YOU ARE WRONG! To a "believer" religion is more real than anything. These people spend their time supporting something they believe in where as you spend your time cutting down a group. Maybe you should try and find something to believe in, not attack. The real issure isnt religion being IN the schools, its religion being forced on people in the schools. Christians as a majority dont want you to pray out of force or fear. They just want the right to put their most important thing in their day. THAT IS ALL. Maybe we should be more tolerant. Liberals always want "tolerancy." Well then, stop attacking our foundations.
