  1. You lose again Rue. I was not making any claim as to the date of the Gospels, he was. Since he does not possess an original copy he cannot claim any dates for them. So I am not in the position of having to supply proof. He is. Glad to enlighten you.
  2. Equally ridiculous. Celibacy has been common among spiritual men since before the time of Christ. Not that sex is bad, but for someone who has a life mission or a particular focus the married life can be a hinderance. That's why Sydney Carton is the hero. He has no ties. Peter had a wife, but it could not have been easy to be an apostle wandering around while having a wife at home. How do you explain to most wives that you are going out into the desert to fast? If you have a wife and place more importance upon spiritual matters she will soon leave you.
  3. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. It is like saying that because I have a copy of the Illiad from 1952 that it was impossible for Homer to have written it.
  4. I think the traditional family is a wonderful thing. But I don't hype about single parents either. I mean that is something that is no one's fault necessarily. You know sometimes when you support the idea of family people think you dislike single parents and such. That is not true. But I think it is ideal in a lot of cases, and I am sure alot of single parents would like to have a partner.
  5. Well said. You get banned there for disagreeing with the general opinion. Try to introduce another viewpoint into any topic, make a few good points to support your view, and I guarantee you within 24 hours you are no longer a Rabbler.
  6. So if a guy does not have a girlfriend or children he is then gay? Interesting. Too bad it's bullshit.
  7. Why would you want to bring the Warriors to Toronto?
  8. Scott and Momo. I think you two are MLW's Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau. But which one is which?
  9. Who says it has to be translated into policies and law? This is the moral and religious issues subforum Mikey. Red Da Vinci claimed that the Bible was no different from the Koran. This is what I was originally responding to and then you responded to me. Nice try.
  10. Exactly my point. His one example of violence is one that is shared with Islam (harsh legal punishments), but this is not the only sort of violence encouraged. Warfare and conquest of the infidel are encouraged as well in the Koran. I am not so stupid as to think there are no Muslims who can ignore this. Of course there are. But to compare the scriptures of the three faiths, Islam is definitely more violent. Mohammed himself was the first Muslim raider and conqueror.
  11. Judge Judy is a sharp lady. I like alot of things about her.
  12. The thing about alot of these hard-wired thingomajigs you read in Time magazine or whatnot is that the fact that there is an article about them means very little. What it means is that there is a researcher or researchers out there who have become enamoured with this idea and they are putting research into it based upon a few observations, nothing conclusive. While I do believe in certain things definitely being hard-wired I find it humorous the degree to which it is claimed to be in some of these theories. Hard-wired for religion, hard-wired to like McDonald's, hard-wired to vote for Harper. Puh-lease.

  14. Simple. You and I may both agree that giving your money to a televangelist is a waste, but I don't know if any of them actually say that if you donate 1000 bucks you will get into heaven. Usually what they do is they ask you for contributions to their ministry. And they might say and we'll send you a hardcover copy of John Johnathan Johnston's new book "I Put The Fun in Fundamentalism". May not be my cup of tea. May not be your cup of tea. But if someone wants to contribute to the ministry whether you or I think the guy is a phony or not that is their business. The only offer is a copy of John's new book. So there is no tangible con going on. As long as they send the book. Asking for a donation is not a con. No one has to donate. And if they do its of their own free will.
  15. I didnt know who Hagee was, but I don't watch televangelists. And I don't get any Christian channels anyway. But from what I have read he is on TBN. A great deal of Christians consider TBN apostate. Anyhow, the fact that Hagee mentions Harper is only to be expected since Hagee is pro-Israel, or claims to be anyway, and so is Harper. Have you any reference to Harper mentioning Hagee as his man Kuzadd? The reverse is nothing to get hot and bothered about.
  16. Complete bs. I used to be quite left leaning and now I am the opposite. But I still have the same DNA.
  17. House sucks!!
  18. No it shouldnt. You think because you consider it con-artistry and not worth anyone's buck it should be illegal. I agree with your assessment, but what you fail to acknowledge is that people will want the right to put their money where they want. It won't be only the people making money who will complain Cybercoma. It will be people who want to pay for the product and who want the right to buy that product regardless of what you or I think. And that will make you sound like an idiot when you say you are doing it to protect them from being conned.
  19. While I agree in that I do not like televangelists, I don't think anyone has the right to take them off the air. If you consider it con-artistry, well the same thing could be applied to psychics and people who sell some secret magical self-help technique or anything else. I don't think they actually promise heaven to people who donate money either, Drea. I know that most of them are a tasteless lot and they actually don't seem much different than the psychics to me, but nonetheless people have the freedom to watch them and they have the freedom to say what they want. We have the freedom to disagree.
  20. Well, in reality it certainly seems to be. I am not trying to condemn Islam or have it banned, and I am well aware that as you say people can ignore certain harsher parts. The reality is that it seems to be more prevalent among Islamic societies. And add to that the fact that it does encourage ongoing violence and conquest, then there is no denying that scripturally Islam is the most violent of the three. The law is the moral, Jazzer. The way we define what is sin. Christianity introduced the concept of mercy on sinners (since we are all sinners) but the obvious way to twist this is to say that since there is no punishment there is no such thing as sin. And this is why it is necessary to say that the law remains.
  21. He has a legion of followers? Ok ill look this up. I didnt watch the youtube video. Slow computer here.
  22. Well what do you want me to do about it? See you are the one bringing it up. If this is what Mr. Hagee says then I disagree with him. There, what else do you want me to do. I can't tell him what to say. I don't understand, am I supposed to want him executed? What's the deal here Kuzadd? I mean as a Christian I obviously disagree with a lot of things people say, but how can I stop them from saying it. Alot of people say a lot of things. I dont know the man's email so I can't really theologize with him.
  23. We are talking about warfare not legal punishments. Old Testament Jewish laws and punishment are not applicable to Christianity. Moral laws do apply. But not ritual cleanliness laws, and not one of the punishments. This is why Jesus did not approve of stoning the adulteress. But the moral about adultery was still applicable. He told her to sin no more. Despite the horrendous acts of those who call themselves Christian throughout history, one can easily point out that these men were not following Jesus' teaching. With Islam conquest is an integral part of the doctrine.
  24. I don't know who Hagee is but I wonder why you would care?
  25. But the point is you provided one example. Homosexuality. Islam is the only religion which has in its writings an ongoing call toward spreading the Dar al Islam and jihad against the infidel.
