Most studies show a 50-55 hour work week. Take into account the 2 months off in summer, 2 weeks off at Christmas, one week off at Spring Break and the various other so called PD days. Compare that with true professionals that pull 60-80 hour weeks with maybe one month over the course of a year.

Many teachers work on the next year in early JULY.

60-80 hours a week should not be what people are expected to work, while a 40 hour week becomes a luxury.
