CBC chooses it's 'Canada' page wisely...
gerryhatrick replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's right. Not that I really care, just pointing out the comedy in the situation really. If the CBC wants to talk about India and not appeal to anyone, they'll lose more ad spots and become a bigger cost to the government. Eventually someone will have to cast them free. Do you think that it's noteworthy or indicitive of bias/political whatever to have some links that aren't soley about Canada on a Canada page of a website? How stupid can a topic be? This one has answered that question in stunning fashion. -

You missed it this morning. The three featured stories were all about India things. The three featured stories? You mean the graphical-link stories half way down the page? -
CBC Anti Conservative Spin
gerryhatrick replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Another bizarre anti-CBC topic. I wouldn't mind so much if they made sense. Complaining about bias over this story title is beyind ridiculous. -

What exactly is your objection? A story about an Indian author on the Canada page is "political spin"? How? If you're going to complain about the CBC at least find something legitimate and interesting. This is sad. -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew

Indeed it was, followed by a bold-faced LIE. And seeing our foreign minister lie so openly like that is applicable to citizens. -

Calling her a bitch was ignorant. But the real issue with this topic is that Mackay lied. -

anti-cbc right wing sect? lol. Thats right Gerry, we here on the forum are part of a massive conspiracy to shut off the media. How does "anti-cbc rightwing sect" translate into a "conspiracy"? I don't think you understand the term "conspiracy". I'm not calling rightwingers organized or clandestine in the matter. They're openly anti-cbc. -
Layton won't rule out no-confidence motion
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Maybe we don't live on the same planet or even in the same universe, gerry. But Layton said, "I think the door is open to moving something forward." Let's not waste each others time. Layton is quoted as saying that Harper lacks "urgency". In light of that, my description of Layton saying Harper doesn't take Global Warming seriously enough is quite sound. Jack Layton is the leader of a fourth-rate political party. He is lucky to meet with Harper. He should be glad the Cons. are even tabling an environment plan.... Harper agreed to meet him. Do you sugest Layton should get down on his knees and kiss Harpers toes? Please, let's not get all Roman Empire here. I can tell you're enthralled with Harper, but Jack Layton is the leader of a party that holds sway in the Government House. If it didn't hold sway, would Harper be meeting with him? The Cons environment plan is sh#t, plain and simple. It will go down in history as the #1 mistake of this government, mark my words. -

gerryhatrick replied to Higgly's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well, let's have a topic about the state of the trans-Canada highway then. And anything/everything else that's funded by the federal gov't. The forum is federal politics, not "anything you can remotely tie to the federal gov't" -

Layton won't rule out no-confidence motion
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How do you come to that conclusion, gerry? The CTV article quotes Layton as saying: I interpret an accusation by Layton against Harper of lacking a sense of "urgency" as Harper not taking the issue seriously. Treating something as "urgent" is synonymous with "serious". Well August, I don't see any other topics on this topic. If you would be so kind as to point one out I would be open to considering if it's "nonsense" or not. thx. -

gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
In the end this has reflected very badly on Stephen Harper. Regardless of Layton's motives, he was granted a meeting with the PM and came out telling the Country that Harper isn't serious about Global Warming. -
Global warming will devastate world economy
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Welcome to the forum YDuck. Some people cannot accept the current reality of human caused Global Warming. They will point to humans breathing, cows farting, ice ages, sun variance, earth tilt, forest fires, ect ect... I believe some cannot accept it because their minds are not capable of dealing with it, and others are a combination of that and partisanship. It has become a partisan issue for some.....if you're a pro-market Conservative then they think they need to come down against it. Your post is well put and quite true, but understand that debate with some is fruitless. And in truth, the debate is over. All serious scientists agree, the degree of certainty is beyond anything that would warrent not acting. Note how this report is so quickly and easily dismissed. Those who dismiss it even act as if they have clue #1 about it and the subject. It is a symptom of what I described. -

This is not a federal politics topic. The anti-cbc rightwing sect of course wants to draw attention away from our current federal politics because they're so rotten for the rightwing Conservatives. The age-old method for doing that is attack the media. Can we please get a little moderation on this forum as far as controlling non-political topics? -

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2006/10/31/layton-harper.html Glad to see someone is calling it what it is, the "No. 1 threat to Canadians" Harper thinks some subsidized bus passes and a 2050 target is going to allow him to appear as if he's taking it seriously. Nope. -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
MacKay broke up with Stronach? Whatever... That was what was detailed in a book, but what does it matter? The speaker cannot take a position on this because Mackay will not admit what he did, so it's over. Except for the lasting impact on his credibility, it's over. -
Global warming will devastate world economy
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's pretty funny to watch all those unable or unwilling to admit/deal with Global Warming on here posting their opinions on it! The scientific community (other than a few industry paid unemployed "scientists") is in agreement on Global Warming and it's causes. Why do people think this is a matter of opinion? -
Harper to negotiate with the NDP
gerryhatrick replied to Canadian Blue's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No I need you to provide the proof of man made global warming. Not phony computer models that have to sabotaged to give the answer their looking for. Two things: 1. Global Warming is happening and it's man made. 2. Learn how to quote. -

Harper to negotiate with the NDP
gerryhatrick replied to Canadian Blue's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Richard Lindzen is paid by the oil industry to comment. He has been paid by OPEC in the past. Lindzen is incorrect on warming and has been for some time. I don't care who he is paid by. The facts are the facts. Put up the proof of man made global warming. Do you need us to prove the earth is flat for you at the same time? -
Harper to negotiate with the NDP
gerryhatrick replied to Canadian Blue's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Global Warming is nothing but an opposition link? Just a political issue to be navigated around? And you know that how? Please. -
http://www.canada.com/topics/news/world/st...520&k=23032 Another nail in the coffin of the denial croud such as those who sent Harper a letter asking for more study. Will Harper stand up and acknowledge this report? Will he stand with our ally Great Britain in this fight? Obviously Global Warming and the fight against it is part of our Federal political discourse at the moment, and thus far Harper has done little to show that he takes the situation seriously.

Yeah I saw the signs....at the bottom they said trotsky leninist legue of Canada...Marxists leninist .....yadd yadda yadda...... >...which is funny cause they supported the russians in afghanstan All the signs said that? I think a common mistake made about anti-war protests is that all the people have the same goals, wants, politics, ect. The left is obviously not as homogenous as the right. There are communists at most antiwar rallies, but it is not a communist rally. As I said, it's fantastic to see people out on the street. Even if some of them are communists.
